My husband and I just returned from a 2 month visit to Ho Chi Minh City and stayed at the serviced apartments at AVA Residences. It was the best experience we have ever had. The apartment was immaculate and well appointed, the staff was attentive and friendly, the amenties, pool and gym, were great, and the on site security were helpful and conscientious. The location, in an expat area, is perfect being so close to everything you could need or want, restaurants, shopping, etc, all within walking distance or quick taxi ride.  While we were there we had haircuts, pedicures, foot massages and didn't have to leave the district.  The best part of the location was that it is so close to the Saigon River for the best views from the rooftop of the Landmark 81 skyscraper and the lights of this beautiful city.  Ho Chi Minh is a great city for food and Thao Dien district is no exception.  Walk down Xuan Thuy and you can experience every type of cuisine.  We had really great meals at Matsuri (Japaneses), Duke's Seafood and Oyster Bar, Ono Poke, and the Flying Pig.  After dinner stop by Annie's Cookies for the best right from the oven treat.  If you like India try Baba's Kitchen, authentic Vietnamese-Quan Bui Garden, and you have to try the brisket Pho at Roast and Smoke.  Overall, Ava has the best price-value ratio you could want and it is definitely a place I'd recommend and come back to if I had an opportunity.

Best Place for Long Term Stay in Thao Dien Ho Chi Minh City

We were visiting as a family of five. Rented a two bedroom apartment. The service is poor. 
They refused to provide extra blankets, when we went and asked them. They forgot to give us a trash bin. The washing machine leeks. Two of the days they only provided one towel. 
The reception closes at 7pm. If you want help avoid try to avoid the older receptionist.

Bad service

We lived at AVA Residence for over 3 years, 2016-2019.  We loved our modern and comfortable apartment home and the quiet and convenient location near the river in Thao Dien ward of district 2.  The rooftop is especially wonderful at night for the cool breeze off the river and beautiful views across.  While the price is high compared with average hotels, many ex-pats and business travelers will find the price well within accommodation allowances.    Access is easy for residents and their guests.  

The staff is what makes AVA a truly special and wonderful experience.  From security and housekeeping to maintenance and reception, the staff is always ready to help residents with any need. 

Reception hours are convenient, and the young ladies are always cheerful and speak English very well.  They helped us so many times with simple tasks that are challenging for the foreigner, and with discreet and devoted handling of all the various documents for work permits and residence cards.   

The 24-hour security staff is exceptionally diligent with the comings and goings of various vehicles, so we always knew our bicycles and motorbikes were secure and safe.  They spoiled us with their handy motorbike retrieval service every day!  Most of the Vietnamese language practice I had was with very kind security guards during day and evening!  

Housekeeping is efficient and thorough, 3 times per week if you need.  Our housekeeper is outstanding, and paid attention to detail.  She often noticed problems even before we did and alerted the appropriate support staff.  She is kind and extremely trustworthy, no matter what items we left laying around inside the apartment.  She became our true friend.

Maintenance staff is skilled and hard-working.  Any time we had a request, maintenance would come immediately and worked on problems until they were solved.  

Most of the very organized staff were already at AVA when we arrived, and they are still working at AVA as we depart 3 years later.  We became good friends with several staff members, and we miss them dearly since our move away from the city.

We would recommend AVA to anyone looking for a peaceful, luxurious and comfortable stay in HCMC, whether for business or pleasure, long-term or just a few days. Magnificent!
