Firstly, if you or your taxi driver are not familiar with the location of the accommodation, you will have issues trying to find it as there are no location signs on the roadside unlike other accommodations.  Our transfer took 15 mins longer than needed as the driver had problems finding it, even asking some locals as they also had no idea so could not give directions and we ended up driving up and down the busy road as there is no street or hotel location sign.

To reach the property you need to exit right as soon as you reach the Iris cafe and then less than 30 seconds up the little lane you reach the entrance to the 'retreat'.  The Famiana hotel is over the road to the Iris cafe so once you spot the Famiana hotel on the left you know you have arrived at the Iris cafe. 

Note - do not pay more than 120,000 Dong for your taxi transfer from the airport who will try to charge as much as 400,000 for the same journey.  Also do not change  money at the airport who offered a lousy rate compared to the rate offered in the resort.

Our  greeting at the outdoor reception was friendly and was given a refreshing drink and taken to my room number 11 a standard garden view room which also overlooked the pool.

The room itself was very dark and more 'rustic' than the photos suggested which suggested the accommodation is older than it looks.

It had a king size bed however was covered with just a double duvet so had to be placed sideways to cover the bed and  your feet will stick out of the bottom.  There was aircon which worked OK but the temperature and speed never changed despite using the remote control.  No mozzie net is provided.  There was a mini bar sized fridge which was quite old and the ice box was thick with ice so affected how it could be used and had to be defrosted and then re-started to function properly.

There should have been a flat screen TV in place but this had been taken away for some reason and just some evidence of bare wires poking out of a wall showed where it should have been.  There was an open sided 'wardrobe' with 5 hangers and open shelves but no drawer storage unit so all of you clothes and personal belongings are on view.  A good sized digital safe was provided but it was not fixed down so anyone who was determined could walk away with it if they broke into the room.  There was no security person on site.

The shower room was much smaller than expected but had a good supply of hot water and lovely full size quality hair and body wash products and plenty of clean towels supplied every day.  Despite a mozzie screen in place at the window, the room had issues with some small flies and mozzies and was bitten 3 times on the back of my legs whilst using it.

The biggest issue with the shower room was that the window is not glazed and there was a thick layer of rust coloured dust all the way along the indoor window ledge which suggested it camefrom the building site and the room had not been used and serviced for a while. Even though the window is open to the elements, there is no privacy issue as nobody can see in, and only hear what you are up to!

There was a very thick heavy curtain in place at the very large bedroom window however to make the room brighter you had to fully open it but as no net curtain was in place, anyone could see into the room so it offered no privacy. 

I have highlighted the word 'retreat' as it suggests a peaceful location however at the time of our stay there were 3 chlldren of various ages staying and every day they were shouting, screaming and crying and took over the swimming pool with their inflatables so it was not peaceful.  Their selection of inflatables were left in the pool or poolside overnight which I think is a health hazzard as it contaminates the water as dirt was transferred when the items were on the poolside gardens.

Even worse, there is a hotel being built right next door and on some days, the drilling, hammering and sawing etc started at 7.30am.  This is not the hotels fault though but feel it should be mentioned on the hotel website and accommodation selling company websites whilst construction continues. 

The hotel is not ideal if you like to laze poolside in the sun all day.  There are just 6 heavy wooden sun loungers at one end of the pool which are in the shade all day and 2 large Bali style beds at the other but sunny end of the pool which had to be shared with whoever was lying on it at the time which is awkward and  not enough padded cushions are provided for all of the loungers.  We think it would be better to swop the location of the loungers and beds so guests can sunbathe on the individual loungers and the Bali beds used for relaxation in the shade. 

There is the opportunity to use a private section of beach which is situated within the grounds of the Famiana hotel but there is a strict policy on which facilities you can use.  You must wear the wrist band provided by An Nhien retreat to access the hotel and there is a section of sun loungers to the left of the beach area that have to be used and there are signposts to this area.  However, this area was totally shaded by palm trees and the back of the spa building and only the front row of sun loungers get full sun after 10.30am till sunset. You had to be there early to get one of the front row spots as some guests from the Famiana hotel who wanted to be front row would use the An Nhien area if their 'beach side' was busy but we could not use the Famiana facilities. To make matters worse, random people who were not guests of either hotel would walk up the beach access steps and use the An Nhien loungers and showers and this was not monitored.  Many of the An Nhien beach sun loungers were also not in very good condition and some of the straw parasols structures were very low and you had to duck down very low to get under them.  Despite this, the beach was very clean and many people swam in the sea despite it being very murky looking the days after a heavy overnight shower.  There is a beach bar run by Famiana hotel but drinks and food were sold at crazy prices so we took cold drinks and snacks from local shops. 

As for food at An Nhien, there was an excellent menu with reasonably priced meals and drinks more expensive than local bars/restaurants but still cheap in comparison to UK prices.  Unfortunately during our 7 night stay we never saw any customers use the restaurant apart from residents having breakfast which was excellent every day of our stay.

All of the staff work very hard and are very polite and always cheerful and are an asset to the hotel.  We wanted to leave a good tip at the end of our stay but no tip box is provided so just had to leave cash at reception. Perhaps one general tip box could be provided in future?

I have provided an honest and accurate review of my stay and although it may seem quite critical, we would stay again in future but only after the hotel construction had been completed and if some of the issues highlighted had been given some consideration.  

We did enjoy our stay very much so imaging how we would feel if everything had been 'perfect' and would still recommend you give An Nhien a try as it is in an ideal location and is still a lovely place to stay.  

The hotel gardens were beautiful with lots of ornamental fish ponds and exotic plants, flowers and trees but difficult to negotiate if you have mobility issues as there are just 'stepping stone' type paving with big gaps and it was not possible to pull suitcases which had to be carried from reception.

Lovely - but will be better in time when some issues are tackled

I want to say big big thanks to this place.At december i was in healthy detox programm, omg, its so big expirience in my life.
Our day we start with herbal tea and yoga, we ride bycicle to amazing waterfall , we eat delicious and healthy food, and ofcause now i know how to detox my body in right way.

Amazing health workshop

I stayed and joined 3 days yoga retreat in An Nhiên Retreat with Ms Dezi. This is the first time i have experience like this. I see it suits for any one need to refresh their mind and body.There are different activities every day. I like ginger tea but fresh ginger juice is strange to me, i just know about benefits from them through sharing of Ms Dezi. Every morning you should drink it to start the day. Every meals here is made by healthy ingredients. Biking to Tranh waterfall is an interesting activity to me and singing meditation take me to a deep sleep. Beside is sharings about some recipes for making detox drinks. 3 days were gone make me different thoughs about healthy live styles. After stressful time you should do refresh your own by joining this treatment.

Refresh time in Phu Quoc

The retreat program was very well organized. It was led by Deza whose positivity and spirit make it even more incredible! The place itself is very beautiful located on the coast. The whole experience motivates you to stay healthy both physically and mentally. Would definitely do it again!

Amazing experience!

Beautiful resort in the heart of Phu Quoc. The wellness program held here is a wonderful way to kickstart / continue your health and wellness journey with delicious and fresh foods at the restaurant, energizing yoga overlooking the ocean as well as lots of fun physical activities to do.  Fresh juices and delicious teas are also provided throughout the day. The detox workshop on the program was also informative and helpful. Highly recommend the retreat!

Health and wellness retreat

We stayed four days in this hotel. It's very nice and human-sized. A little corner of paradise in a small quiet street.

It's a great hotel.

I visited Phu Quoc for the first time and had an amazing holiday. I joined Deza for a Yoga & Meditation retreat over Christmas and it was the best few days of my holiday. The days were started with a Ginger Shot then Yoga early in the morning under palm trees on the beach which is the best start of a day. This was followed by very healthy breakfast and meditation. More amazing food and an afternoon trip. Cycling, waterfall, trecking. I was tired  and very happy at the end of each day and had the best sleep. I wish I had been able to stay for longer , I left refreshed and glowing from the experience. Deza is an amazing happy person who really gave a well balanced enjoyable time to all of the group. 

Yoga and Meditation Retreat

The hotel is not large with a pleasant area, which is cleaned every day. Also on the territory of the hotel there is a swimming pool with sillings. The entire island is undergoing global construction, five years from now it will not be known. The discomfort from the nearest construction was not felt, since at 7 a.m. they were already going to breakfast. Breakfast on the menu, there is no Swedish table. The menu is divided into a paid and free breakfast. In a free breakfast: it is necessary to make a dish of eggs / oats / whiteness - on the fourth day it gets bored, so on the choice of tea or coffee.

An Nhien at the beginning of December

When you come from a noisy town on the island where you want to hear the birds sing, you get a snack and a snack at 5am, at best at 7, from all sides. It's like you're living in a 450-room apartment in the center of the building. Room. Room with a view of the garden. The bungalow itself has no gossip. All so many hotels are located in the surroundings of buildings.

The hotel is busy, Fukuok is in love with himself.

My husband and I came to Fukuoka for the first time, and we chose this hotel, and we really liked everything - the room, the breakfast, the terrain, the staff.
