I have rated this place probably higher than what my common sense tells me, how ever it felt good being here.
The half bungalow, some 40m2 in size, #103, facing the beach is 20m to the surf in walking distance. Overall it is a cosy place but wanting in maintenance. The front door plus lock need repair as the tiled floor is scratched badly from insufficient floor clearance and very hard to open. The tiled large floor area was very clean on arrival, with a lounge settee, is spacious and leads to a spacious bathroom. Both rooms need some refurbishment in plaster work and painting. The bedside lamps do not work and the main room light is operable only from the front door. There is a long cabinet with luggage storage and a flat screen TV which is relatively new. The star performer is the small Sanyo fridge, relatively new and works very well. Plenty of wardrobe space with hangers high up for 6 feet plus  guests ok. A small split system Airconditioner  above the door to bathroom, was working but is inadequate for the size area to cool. It stops frequently, must be exhausted......
Now the un-pleasantries: 
Room service is not automatic and daily, was asked by staff after day 2, then cleaned and that was it for my 6 day stay.
Shower pressure is very weak indeed and temperature regulation wanting.
The hand basin tap works fine but the drain operating system failed, waste water would not drain as the hand operated valve is broken.
A small lamp totally inadequate over the basin just dropped out of its socket, when trying to adjust it.
In general, all windows have drapes to close window views. There are so many dogs (friendly) about here and all along Sao bai beach, that some nights one gets woken by dog barking several times in the night. The beach is fine in general, one can walk for a 100m into the relative small waves/surf to reach chest height. There are no undercurrents (in November at least) but appear to have 'stingers' jelly fish gathered from the skin burning sensation encountered. Mind you, a phenomena being encountered all around the world is plastic waste, either generated by tourists on the beach or washed up by the surf. Staff are trying to manage but it appears they are not winning or can afford more resources. Some drains flowing into the surf are utterly littered to the hilt.

We were satisfied with our stay. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Staff was helpful. The beach is gorgeous. The water is completely clear and turquoise. It wasn’t too busy. If you walk all the way to the right, you are likely not to encounter anyone. We wished that the beach was cleaner. Quite a bit of trash along the sand unfortunately. It’s sad to see. There’s nothing to do at night. So if you mean to relax, this is a good place. The restaurants shut down early. We visited during low season so I don’t know if that is the reason. We had to take taxi’s to have dinner when we ate past 7pm. We are seasoned travelers and move around a lot. Spent two days here and all in all, we enjoyed our stay. 

Nice, comfortable and clean quarters 

It is good place for swimming and relaxing.  I just use the beach and restaurant. However I think it is enough for relaxing. The beach is very clean and peaceful. I really like this island and place. If u have a chance, I want to you travel this island. It is really nice chance your life. Thanks a million. 

Beautiful place

It's a nice place to relax for you and your family. 
Rely big room at the front line of your "bungalow" 
Clean, hot water, good bed. 
Friendly stuff but not so good in English, really super good wifi. 
When you living here you have the sun bed including in you room like the breakfast. 
Small and good breakfast and fresh fruit after. 
Easy to go with taxi from the airport,  the price is 200-250,000 vnd. 
The evening on this place is really relaxing and no things to do. So do not look for party, if you want take a taxi to the city and find some bars ore visit the night market for great sea food. 
They clean the beach every day and it's plastic in the water sometimes. 


The relaxing place 

My husband and I found this resort after booking in the hotel next door which isn't a recommended hotel, so we went along to My Lan Hotel initially for a drink and discuss what we do next in terms of where to stay as the original booked hotel was awful.  Upon arriving at Lan, the very young staff were pleasant and served us and we asked if we could see a room and the room was beach front and was clean, spacious with hot water unlike the originally booked place.  The staff spoke very little English but I wouldn't expect anything else.  The hotel is set on the beautiful setting on Sau Beach.  It's about 25 minutes from the airport and the bumpy track to get to the resort takes about 10 minutes of that.  The beach is stunning and white sand, however, there is quite a lot of pollution later in the day but it seems to get cleaned up each morning by the hotel staff, however, there is a lot of pollution that is piled up in parts of the beach would spoils it a bit.  Breakfast is included in your staff, however, it is limited but omelette served with warm bread is recommended.  During the day there are a lot of visitors from other resorts that come along as there are organised trips to Sau beach so it get very very busy then late afternoon it gets equally busy with locals.  There is a nice restaurant in the vicinity that serves a good variety although it does close a 7pm.  The area shuts down at 9pm and there is nothing to do in the evening except stay in and relax so if you are thinking about going out for drinks in the evenings then this definitely isn't the place for you.  Overall the room was clean, staff were nice and the beach is lovely so if you are happy with a basic few days with nothing to do then this is perfect.  Also worth noting there is free intermittent wifi.

Stunning Beach, average place

On the beautiful Bai Sao Beach is this small hotel, that's highly recommendable for a short stay. During the day the beach-area is full of life, but during night it's so quiet, and there's nothing but the ocean and the stars.
Don't expect the staff to be English-speaking, don't expect high levels of service.

Great location!

We had a wonderful room with an ocean view. The staff are friendly. The water is clear and warm.  It isn't crowded. The few downsides are that there is trash all along the beach and to the sides. In the morning the staff will clean the litter in front of the hotel but it just accumulates throughout the day. There are stray dogs that roam around- they were harmless. I would give five stars if the beach itself was clean. 

Beautiful water

Firstly, the road to the beach is horrendous and shouldn't even be considered to be a road, more like a muddy pathway. The resort was built next to some kind of sewage, hence the awful smell . Apparently, "beachfront" and "sea view" are two very different things. Beachfront means a view of dirty restaurants and sea view means sea trash everywhere. The reception smells like a toilet and sometimes the receptionist was no where to be found. We called the number given on her desk because it says "in case of an emergency" but someone in charge of the restaurant answered instead..what the heck? 

The ocean is filthy due to the amount of waste from the boats stationed not far from the coast. Annoying merchants bother you to buy their expensive fruits that will probably give you diarrhea. Breakfast food tasted like depression so I gave most of it to the dogs that were roaming around the place, who seemed to be the only security team here. 

Overall, 1 star.

Disastrous.

We booked this beach front room for 3 nights during our 7 days stay in Phu Quoc, room is clean, a/c blowing cold air but that is all you get. Like the rest of the reviews, the beach front is actually a view of their restaurant and then beach 30m out. The place is jam packed with tourist buses until late afternoon, my wife's flip flops got stolen right outside of our room. Laundry service is a rip off, they weighed our laundry wet..... beach is nice and calm but loads of garbage everywhere and no one seemed to care....... we had visited Da nang and Nha Trang during our five weeks vacation in Vietnam and I have to say it's night and day! I will never return to this resort!

!!!!! Stay away from this resort!!!

Beach front rooms have views of bar and huge restaurant area. No specific area allocated for resort patrons, beat the endless bus loads and claim your spot. Not a good place for r&r, reminiscent of a loud bar during peak hours. Even after tourists leave at nite, tour boats are stationed there and loud karaoke can be heard till late. Beach and ocean is littered with garbage, staff clean only restaurant area but could care less about what lies 100m in each direction, garbage is piled up and left to brew with ocean water, very sad and inferioriating. Merchants and their children will push/nag/loiter around you to purchase fruits/snacks. Staff will not do a thing. Laundry service is calculated by the Kg, and they return/weighed it wet. Tourists/locals will try and enter rooms, to shower/change, make sure your doors are lock and never never leave anything on porch, even hotel sandals or towels as they will walk away and you will be charged. Save your time and money and head to Da Nang or Nha Trang, nite and day compared to Phu Quoc. We will never return to the island !!
