The My Son Sanctuary is an awe-inspiring ancient site located in Vietnam. It is a grand and spiritual place, filled with ancient Hindu temples that date back to the 4th century. The site is a great way to learn about the history of the area and to be inspired by its grandeur. Views are breathtaking and the atmosphere is peaceful and calming. I highly recommend a visit to this grand and spiritual ancient gem!

Son is the Man! 

The road from Hanoi to Sa Pa is much better than expected, we went for a private transfer as we were a party of 4 adults and 6 Kids.  The last 30 mins of the trip was a bit hairy with motorbikes, buses, trucks and cows all using the same mountain road but welcome to Vietnam. 

As we reached Sapa the mist was settling in for the night making the whole town seem a little mysterious winding through the back streets, I did shoot my mate who booked this leg of the trip, a quick look thinking where have you booked this Hotel! But then we arrived at Sons Hotel and we were welcomed by the friendliest man in Vietnam "Son" the owner of Son's hotel. Sons hotel is about 200 metres from the main square up a steep little road.  The reception, bar and restaurant make up the bottom floor and are clean and tiny, the staff are keen to help or bring you a drink.  Son had everything organised for our rooms after a long trip, we were happy to let the staff get everything to our rooms.  We had 2 large family rooms - one double and three singles- the rooms and bathrooms were basic but had everything we needed and were tiny and clean.  Breakfast was very nice especially the Asian breakfast and the bread but it is the service that inspired me to write this review.  Son and his team went out of their way to make every part of our day perfect, from organising transfers, advise on activities and even making us lunch for the trip back to Hanoi!

Please take my recommendation if you want a great value Hotel in a good spot with an excellent host I'd stay at Sons!

Family trip to Sa Pa Vietnam

Nice location and very clean. Room had good view. Breakfast average. Staff average but very little English spoken. Charges to do laundry outrageous and about 20 times more than at any other hotel we stayed at. Normally it's 1-3 dollars per kilo where as here they charge by item and it would have been $24. Also tried to charge a very expensive early checkin fee despite the fact that the room was clean and ready when we arrived. They waived it though after I complained.

Good value

We stay in a homestay and wanted to see Sapa City. We stayed at the new Son's Boutique Hotel which we understand is about 4 months old.
It is a bit away from the city and touristy activities.
But we were pleasantly surprised by the industrious of a young lady employee in Ms Trang.
She is a 'jane of all things'. She handles front desk, concierge services, room services, F&B and anything sundry. Her attitude is so positive and enlightening for someone who is only 26 years.

Our group of 6 travellers were all so impressed. She is a gem and most certainly an asset to the hotel.

I highly recommend Ms Trang and Son's Boutique Hotel in that order.



Sapa Visit

I visited Sa Pa during Tet holiday (29-31 Jan 2017) with my family (my Mom and younger sis) and stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. This is a newly constructed one at a quiet neighborhood, and everything was quite brand-new, except some minor deficiencies (no phone & no fridge in the room, room a bit small, breakfast a bit boring). But they have excellent management team (both anh Son the owner and anh Minh the manager are awesome, anh Minh is so informative and professional, and friendly also). We even got to check-in a bit earlier without a fee. Nice one and likely recommended.

New hotel with nice management

We stayed here for one night, having been moved from another hotel where building work was happening outside. Son's Hotel is a very new hotel. We had a view of the lake to the front. There is a steep slope going up to the hotel, but apart from that the location for us was great, being in a quiet location but within easy walking distance of the centre (about 5 minutes). Our room was huge and everything was spotlessly clean and good quality, with tea and coffee facilities and a good selection of toiletries. Being so new it did feel like there were still things to address, such as no AC in the room, no wardrobe (just a coat hook), no safe, but these didn't cause us any issue for our brief stay, and the friendliness of the staff more than made up for this. Breakfast was from 7 to 9 am and was good quality with a good choice, including fruit, museli, yogurt, juice, choice of eggs, tea and coffee. We would hesitate to return here if we were in Sapa again.
