I was there for a business trip to Bulawayo and this hotel was excellent. We arrived early so our rooms weren't ready yet but despite the inconvenience caused they got them prepared as we waited. The staff were always helpful and friendly, whether it was charging my phone because I forgot my charger or opening the pool for me. Not to mention the excellent food! The dishes were simple but I must give kudos to the chef at the Lodge, they really know how to make simple meals taste fantastic. I particularly loved the poached eggs for breakfast and the food was well-prepared whether it was buffet or not. Anyone who visits the City of Kings should definitely take some time to enjoy this place. The manager was also lovely and always asking us how we were and if our stay was comfortable. I regret that I don't remember her name but she was very sweet and professional.

Simple Yet Exquisite

Owners were nice but the place, though spacious, is a dump.  Prices should be cut in half for what is just a place to sleep.  Despite advertising all three, no WiFi, no tv, no shower (shower head is just a tube with water barely coming out).  Ceiling fan too high and weak to deter bugs.  Alleged kitchenette only had a kettle. Came back around noon and could not get in since front door was locked and NO staff answered door.  Apparently corner lady had a key that could let us in.  Just skip this place as an overnight transit place.

Skip This Place and Move On!

Our stay in The Bulawayo City Lodge was wonderful. The rooms are pretty big and fully equipped (TV, hot water, big cupboards and wardrobes). All rooms have a comfortable queen size bed. Perhaps the best mattress I've ever used before. It is close to the city center and all services; supermarkets, Intercape station, banks, museums...The best of all, is the owner. He is one of the most wonderful person I've ever met. He helped us from the very begining, the cared about us, he gave us some city tips, and he managed our visit to Matopos National Park. We will definetly come back.

Good place and people

I stayed there for one night only on transit from Victoria Falls to Masvingo. The hotel is located close to the city center. The indian owner is very friendly (and can give you a lot of advice) and it's interesting to talk to him. The room itself is ok, nothing special. You can prepare coffee/tea and there's also a small kitchen for those who want to cook. Rates are reasonable. Bulawayo itself is a nice and relaxed town with colonial houses.

I will not extol hotel now – just share experience. Hotel has a problems and does not match with European 3 stars. However, you should be adjusted for the the following:
1) The hotel is located in Zimbabwe - quite troubled region.
2) Bulawayo City - not touristic region.
 The flow of customers appears most often once a year, when it’s held ZITF exhibition. The rest of the rooms are idle. All hotels in Bulawayo about the same level.  Also most of the hotels is unreal to find in Internet. I have stayed at this hotel from April 24 to 30 at a time of ZITF. And I think that I met the couple from the Netherlands, which has left an angry review about hotel earlier. Prices, by the way was, high in connection with the influx of visitors. Location: City Centre - convenient. Taxis arrive within 5 minutes. WiFi - the signal is stable, but not catches in all rooms. The access point is located at the reception.
Rooms: Pretty big and clean. Previously, it was apartments - many cupboards in the room and small kitchen. Tableware: 2 cups, tea and 2 glasses. Tea and water for free. TV works - channels from South Africa. 
Cupboards of course they should change – you don’t want to put things there. Wood is not treated inside, so it doesn’t allow properly wash. Upholstered furniture is also old, but not flashy. The main thing – it is clean and comfortable. Especially liked the sofas in the middle of the room.
Bath:  Old, but clean.  The biggest problem it is a shower. Or rather its absence in most rooms.  From the wall  just stick 2 crane with hot and cold water aka English system.  Some rooms have already made full renovated bathrooms with a normal shower, but unfortunately my turn has not reached. For cleaning you are welcome to use the basin and scoop. Like Russian bathhouse.  By the way about the purity of the water - it's true. Checked by special microbiological rapid tests. 
Breakfast: buffet. We had a $ 10 per person. At other times, I think is cheaper. Breakfast includes: Sausages, eggs, some vegetables, local juices, yoghurts, cereals, bran, apples / bananas. All delicious and satisfying.
Staff: Here is just everything is perfect - the hotel management Indian family - very nice and hospitable people. They are friendly, open and always ready to help. The stay helped us to solve a lot of questions. At the same time, any questions about the hotel carried out immediately.
