Room was spotless, and the bathroom was fantastic! Very roomy! Beds were incredibly comfortable and nice firm mattresses. Our hostess was very friendly and engaging, and we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast (quite hearty) and conversation with her.

Hotel is very close to the train station, but not noisy at all.

Outstanding - always my first choice

I spent a night in Astra during a business trip. I was there already before. The hotel is very tidy with small but modern rooms. The breakfast is very good and the staff very polite and helpful.

Again very good stay

Simple but modern furnishings. Everything top-notch renovated and clean. Bath/shower as new. Breakfast is individually prepared as desired. Family atmosphere. Good restaurants only a few minutes walk away (German, Italian)

Top GARNI Hotel

Super helpful staff (which is hard to find in Germany), very convenient located, very clean. Looks deceiving from the outside, but is a wonderful little hotel. Lots of details, such as window screens, toothbrush holders, free standing fan for hot summer nights, free wifi, plenty of towels, even wash cloths. Even a blow drier and an alarm clock were already in the room.

Excellent little place to stay

Nice Hotel, close to the station. New furnitures and kind personnel.
The building does not look very nice from the outside and the road is a bit isolated with not so much going on. However the rooms are very clean and fully accessorized. Not super cheap.

Clean and close to the station

Very well maintained, small hotel. The rooms are top, the beds are a dream, I have rarely slept so well. The breakfast is very ground-based, the breakfast is very spicy, the mirror ledges with and without bacon are made fresh.

Sleep like God in...

Rooms have either 1 or 2 beds, newly remodeled, great showers, comfortable firm beds.  Great location right around the block from train station, short walk to best restuarants and shops in town.  Breakfast and lounge available to guests in hotel.

Great Family Run Hotel, Clean, Comfortable, Quite and Affordable!

The service and cleanliness in this hotel are really excellent. I can't remember any hotel where the rooms were cleaned so perfectly every day. The surrounding shirts were even hung on new walls. The rooms are very new, especially the bathroom is upscale enough. The breakfast is rather basic: 3 white buns, one cheese/sweet plate, sweet patty, corn, yogurt, yogurt, egg. The only drawback: most rooms are located on the main street. I have a healthy sleep, but when the windows are open I couldn't sleep at best. (when the windows are very closed you hardly hear anything). On hot days, this can be a piece of food. It's sensible to ask someone first, to go to another room.

Excellent service, modern rooms, super clean.

It's a great place to stop if you drive through the KL. It's 5 minutes from the train station, 10 minutes from the center, and most importantly, the cozy home atmosphere and delicious morning coffee from the rainbow lady.

A great place for a budget tourist.

I booked the Hotel Astra for one night while passing through Kaiserslautern, Germany.  It is only 400 meters from the Hauptbahnhof and an easy 10 minute walk to the main pedestrian shopping area in the middle of the city.  I was traveling alone and booked a single, which was scrupulously clean and airy.  The decorations were fairly minimal, with just a bed, single chair and table, and a small flat-screen tv, but the bathroom was larger than I expected in a European hotel and very new and clean. 

The owner warned me that there was a Kaiserslautern Soccer Club football match and the hotel was fully occupied, but I did not hear any of my fellow guests despite it being a Saturday night.  The neighborhood itself wasn't very inviting, mostly residential with a few bar/restaurants, and a casino and a strip club a few blocks away, but I felt perfectly safe as a single woman walking around in the evening.  I didn't go out after about 8 pm, but again it seemed to be a fairly quiet neighborhood.  

The add-on breakfast was worth it, with european-style bread/meat/cheese along with cereal and yogurt, apples and bananas, and the waitress would fry an egg or two for you and bring fresh coffee and orange juice.  Much better than I would have found on my own on Easter morning in Germany!  

An extremely pleasant stay for a very minimal price.  I would definitely stay there again when passing through K-town.
