Great B&B - Judy, lady of the house is super friendly. 
She gives a realtime good explanation about the area and local cafés and restaurants and things to do in the city. She even does your laundry without an extra charge!

Excellent stay!

Motels are okay for quick stopovers but sometimes staying in a B&B is just better.  Nice welcome from the host, useful tips on where to eat.  Decent breakfast with friendly guests and a scary story from the host about the earthquake a few years back!

Kaikoura stopover

Property is very easy to find just along Beach Road and close to petrol stations, restaurants and New World Supermarket. We stayed at Queen Room 4 with kitchen facilities. Room is new with a comfortable bed. TV is fixed high up the wall but it has Netflix, free wifi, private entrance that directs to the spa pool and garden. Yes spa pool with mountain view and a stream. Coordinate with Judy (owner) the time you wish to use it because its on scheduled basis to keep its privacy.
Our stay comes with continental breakfast.
Car parking is within the premises not street parking. Upstairs is the kitchen with a milion dollar view of the mountain with snow. 
Overall experience for a couple getaway is great. Our needs were met! We will come back again.

COUPLE GETAWAY

A friend and I have just enjoyed a few days away in Kaikoura, staying in the two bedroom cottage on site. It was ideal. Lovely setting with views from the deck over the fields to the mountains, perfect place to enjoy a wine as the sun went down. There’s an attractive garden going down to the brook, a well equipped, roomy, comfortable cottage, and best of all, my dog came with us and was very welcome! She quickly made friends with Judy’s (our host’s) dog Charlie who would pop round to visit.  
The cottage is set well back from the road, so very quiet, and safe for my dog.
Highly recommend.

Lovely pet friendly accommodation

We prebooked for our holiday to South Island. Going whale watching, so booked Brook House B&B. Pictures look alot better than actual property. Run down, shabby garden, hose left across flight of steps, ready for someone to trip on. Room was small. Folding wooden doors in kitchenette wouldn't open or close. Musty smell inside. Upon talking to Judy,vshe wasn't pleased at all she needed to buy gluten free provisions for my breakfast. Seriously, she only needed to buy a loaf of gf bread and could freeze it afterwards. Really made me feel welcome, not. I've never been insulted by a hotelier or restaurant about needing celiacs safe food. It is a B&B though? We drove into town to find somewhere else for the night and secured a lovely place. We returned to Brookby to tell Judy we weren't happy to stay there and collect our bags.we had prepaid two nights there and one night was deducted from our account, which they wouldn't refund us for. Beware of photos online which sometimes aren't a true indicator of the property.

Not good

We needed to stay just one night to break our journey from Christchurch to Nelson via Blenheim. 
Our host Judy was very welcoming and friendly.  Our room was comfortable with a door out into a garden area.  As it was raining we didn’t get the chance to enjoy that.  Our bed was so comfortable we had the best sleep we could remember. Our breakfast was very tasty with plenty of options to choose from.  Suffice to say we will return in the bit too distant future for a longer stay.

Very comfortable stay

We were thrilled to find this awesome accommodation in Kaikoura!! Absolutely pet friendly and the amenities were perfect for the humans too! 
Outstanding views and appointments inside and out! We watched the sunset from the spa and to be honest....didn't really want to leave when it was time to go. 

WHAT A GEM!⭐️⭐️

LOVED THIS PLACE! 

Stayed for 3 nights in one of the cottages, it had a large living area, bedroom and bathroom so good for small families or maybe 2 couples. Kitchen was clean with good quality utencils, cookware etc. The cottage has a washing machine and dryer which was great because the weather was too wet for using the outdoor line. Our only issue was that the place was cold and we had to keep the heat pump on to keep it warm and dry, bathroom was freezing but had its own heater too. Best part was that this place had the best mattress I've ever slept on in a motel and it had an electric blanket. So, we slept very well.

If you're a poor sleeper then the road noise could be an issue, it is set back from the main road but you can hear the rumbling of trucks at night.

The hosts are very informative about the region which was really helpful getting oriented.

Comfortable Little Cottage

This seems like a cross between a bnb and a hostel! It’s very relaxed - the front door is left unlocked and you pick up your keys from the board w your name on it! You can bring in food if you want and eat it in the family kitchen w Judy and her partner. The room was a bit basic but clean and comfortable and breakfast was ‘continental’ style - yoghurt, cereal, fruit and toast w coffee that you prepare yourself. It’s a little noisy w the trucks going past and the walls seem quite thin (eg we could hear our neighbour taking a very early morning shower!). But it’s cheap and convenient and Judy was informative. Plus you can see the snow capped mountains from the deck!

Cheap ‘n cheerful

I am from England.   As part of a visit to New Zealand to see our daughter, I stayed at Brook House, having travelled up by the lovely scenic route railway from Christchurch.
The owner, Judy, could not be more helpful: picking me up from the station, driving me round Kiakoura, taking me to restaurants and arranging a whale-watching excursion. 
I loved this (which was so nice: well organized and informative).  My room was very very clean and tidy, with nice bed linen.  The whole house was well-run and I felt safe.   As other guests have said, the breakfast help-yourself was superb, and I loved the fresh fruit salad.  Judy works extremely hard.
