I stayed in the City Residence for 4 nights during Easter holidays with my two boys. The apartment itself was fine however my experience with the owner was far from pleasant. I booked the trip back in January clearing stating I was travelling alone with 2 children and on my arrival I was greeted with the children are a problem! I thought the owner was joking! He was not and went on as to how the apartment was not suitable for children and that I had told him I was bringing them! I explained that I had and would never have booked without informing the ages of my boys (3 and 5 yrs). I was eventually brought up to the apartment and again I was told this was a problem. I honestly couldn't see the issue, this went on for at least ten minutes. I had brought the booking email with me for the address and showed the owner where it said the ages of the boys when I made the booking enquiry in January to be told that he must have forgotten!  I was very upset at this stage after a long day travelling and asked did I need to find somewhere else to stay? The response was no it was my problem and that I needed 2 good eyes and that he hoped I would still be happy when I was leaving on Sunday! The only reason I stayed as it was close to my brother who is living in Dresden, we were out every day and only there at night to sleep. I emailed the owners on my return to explain how upset I was at my treatment on my arrival but a week later I still have not received a response. This was the owners mistake not mine if back in January they had informed me the apartment was not suitable for children I would have booked somewhere else. I travel to Dresden annually but will not stay here again.

No customer service

The apartments are located in very good location with bars and restaurats. Not so far from old town. Apartments are clean, big and very well equipped. Owner is nice person. Next time, I will stay here again.

Great location in the neighbourhood, very tastefully decorated, clean, nice landlord. They were here for the second time and are coming back safely.

Top holiday apartments

This is the second time I've stayed in the "City Appartement" on the Louisenstrasse in Dresden Neustadt while attending a two-week Goethe Institut course. The location is very good, just a block off the Königsbrücker Strasse, only a couple of minutes from the Louisenstrasse tram stop, and a 10-15 min. walk to the Goethe Institut. I prefer the Neustadt to the more touristy Altstadt, and there are convenient food markets, bakeries, restaurants, a laundromat, etc., although it's a lively area with lots of nightlife, and can sometimes be noisy. This wasn't a problem in October, but I'm not sure about the summer, with open windows. 

The City Ferienwohnungen (vacation apartments -- five in all, different sizes and prices) are located in a pleasant old building with a private courtyard in the rear. The courtyard is a lovely little oasis, with tables/chairs, a grill, etc.The downside is that the staircase is steep and winding, with no elevator. The City Appartement, where I stayed, is three stories up. I didn't mind the daily climb but dragging my heavy luggage up and down was pretty hard. If this is a problem for you, consider one of the lower floors. Each Wohnung is different, very clean, lovingly decorated, and feels like a home away from home. The Appartemente is a cozy, pleasantly decorated two-room apartment, with bedroom/sitting room, a kitchenette with eating table, and its own bathroom with shower. (The Domicile is similar and on a lower floor.) It was clean, well equipped, warm, and cozy. The kitchen has a small refrigerator, a two-burner stove, a sink, coffee maker, electric kettle, dishes, glassware, pots, pans, etc., but lacks a microwave or toaster. Since I only made coffee and breakfast, it was OK for me. I think it would be challenging to do any serious cooking here.

There was no internet connection in my apartment. There is a WLAN hotspot at a desk on one of the landings in the stairwell and as it was fairly expensive and not a particularly pleasant location, I didn't try to use it. As I was able to use free internet at the Goethe Institut, it was a situation I could live with, but not ideal.

At 50 Euros a night, plus final cleaning charge of 20 E, I felt this was a good value and I would stay here again. It works well for a single person or a couple.

Cozy, reasonably priced apartments in Dresden Neustadt, convenient to Goethe Institut

The ideal holiday home. The holiday apartments are decorated in a modern country house style with a lot of attention to detail. The website did not promise too much. The central location in the Neustadt of Dresden with easy access railway station is an ideal starting point for a stay in Dresden. The rooms are very well maintained and clean. The friendly landlord gave us willingly good tips for excursions and current cultural offerings. We are happy to come back.
