We booked the hotel through Booking.com on our phone. It does not state that dogs are not allowed. After I had paid, I received two messages from the hotel advising us that dogs are not allowed and we could not stay there with a dog.
I booked another hotel and then found out that that Hotel du Ladhof refused to give us a refund. As we had booked through Booking.com I expected them to help us but they did not.

You get what you pay for, it’s ok for a one night stay if you are travelling, Colmar is a lovely place lots of nice restaurants. Hotel owner if very helpful and breakfast is ok. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Rooms facing the road are a bit noisy. 

Ok for a cheap stop off if you are travelling 

The rooms are basic, but clean.  They lack charm and warmth.  Be ready to climb stairs.   We left the luggages in the car (trunk).  The towels are thin, old, clean.
There are three owners (mother, father and son)   Father is most unpleasant, the mother is distant but can be helpful.  Only the son smiles and greets you.
The hotel closes at 9 PM, no ifs, no buts. To quote the father "it is not my problem" (our plane had been delayed 3 hours)
The breakfast is adequate. The restaurant has pleasant waitresses and good, Alsatian food.

Had to be directed to the reception, which was in the bar.  Dark and gloomy interior which was very difficult going for my vision impaired wife. Nice proprietor but not overly helpful.  Had a drink at the bar which turned out pricey.  Our room was up a dark and gloomy stairs and the automatic light only came on when we go to the room door!  I have stayed in two monasteries but this room is definitely no go for more than one night because of its limited space, lack of ambience and comfort.  Slept well though as we were tired from travelling.

Overnight hotel room stay

I'll have to agree with most of the negative review here.
We came here in family near 13h thinking it won't be too soon for the check-in but we were so wrong, nobody was there, nobody at the reception, no guests not even a message on the door. We toured around the hotel and luckily we found the manager. He was a little bit grumpy since we didn't come in a convenient moment I guess. But after all, he gave us our room key and give us the passcode for the building so we can come back by ourselves later in the day. His last advice was to simply give back the key to the reception desk once we checked out.

We only come back at night near 22h after town sightseeing.the whole place was almost pitch dark, not much lightning for the parking place... but we were surprised to see the parking is full and they even put a cardboard sign "Hotel complet" (the hotel is full) in the door leading to the reception and the rooms. We entered the reception hall using the number code given by the manager earlier in the day. Strangely, no light, no sound... and of course, nobody at the reception desk, this will not surprise us in this hotel anymore.
We went in our room, it was room number 1, so just next to the reception hall once entering the corridor. Since we booked the room for 4, they added 1 extra double bed to it, and this is correct, but almost took the whole room space. The room look clean and neat. The TV was wall mounted in the corner, but very visible from the original bed. The WIFI was supposed to be free and the information was on the table, but out of our 8 mobile devices (cellphones, tablets, laptops) only one could connect to it. Next to the original bed, there is a sliding door leading to a huge bathroom (that would have taken half of the total room space) with a shower. It looks decent for the hotel class but I might say they had bad taste designing this room.

They could have done better than this. But I won't book here next time I come back to Colmar, which is a splendidly beautiful city, especially its old town.

Very strange indeed...

We thought this would be a neat hotel to stay at, because it was in the shape of an old style barn, and on a nice acre of landscaped land. That was where this hopefully pleasant stay ended. The owner was obnoxious and rude. He wouldn't let us change rooms, even though my back warranted a possible change. If you don't order the breakfast, the restaurant is then not open to you at any time. Didn't really matter because it was closed most of the time. On our second day of staying there he had a crew putting in insulation in the attic, which was on the same floor as we were on and they started early in the morning and worked all day! That didn't even warrant us being able to move to a different floor. They weren't full by any means as there were only ever 2 to 4 vehicles in the lot and one was theirs. It wasn't very clean and you had to drive anywhere you needed to go.
