Airport (quick);  Aldi (wine);  mountain (big);  hairpins (tight);  more hairpins (tighter);  tunnel (long);  speed camera (slow down) and we arrived at Dulce Valle.  

Ana is utterly charming.  She installed us in a two-storey villa, which was very clean, very contemporary, and we could not fault it. We settled in and relaxed with a couple of full glasses of wine, which we valiantly emptied.

The mountains lie, behind the villas, looking like a recumbent head. The view is wonderful.  There is a good-sized pool (February - didn't try it) and an electric gate to keep the small site secure.

Plenty of restaurants are within walking distance. As a base for exploring the island, it is perfect. We have stayed in Santa Cruz, Valle Aridane and Barlovento but found El Paso to be the best location from which to explore.

We left for the airport in a thunderous storm to find all flights cancelled and EasyJet uninterested in helping us to find somewhere to sleep for the night. We called Ana, who agreed to venture into the tempest, in the middle of the night, to allow us to return to the villa.  What a star! Ultimately, we managed to find somewhere close to the airport and Ana was able to remain dry.

Would I stay again at Dulce Valle Villas: Yep; yep; yep; yep; yep!

Stay here! Drink wine! Eat food!

We chose this accommodation because of the central location - we wanted to explore the island. Good value for money and very welcoming. Don't expect a quick check in - you will be showed absolutely everything!
For the 2 of us, the apartment was ideal. Spotless, very well equipped, quiet and comfortable. Wifi worked fine. Big fridge freezer, induction hob, kettle, traditional coffee maker, microwave.
Loved the garden - gorgeous plants with the backdrop of the mountains.
The apartment's terrace wasn't huge but big enough for eating out.

Perfect base for exploring 

We stayed here three nights while we explored La Palma. Anna was very sweet but there was no way to contact her upon our arrival (our American phones don't work here). We waited outside the gate for approximately 15 minutes before another guest helped us enter and used her phone to call Anna and let her know we were there. The inside of the apartment was spacious with plenty of towels but very little hot water for 4 people. Also, the heat wasn't working. She very sweetly bought us a space heater but it couldn't possibly heat the entire apartment at once. We used the hot tub. It was more of a warm tub but it was nice. We didn't use the pool or other other amenities but they looked fine. Overall, the price and location were great but the rooms got damp with all the rain. It was cold overnight but the space heater helped. We would stay again. 

Great Value But a Few Hiccups

It is closed area of several villas sharing pool, sauna and jacuzzi. It is in walking distance from El Paso city center, but it is situated very uphill from the centre, thus the walk is short but exhausting (but you will be using car anyway). The villa was very clean, with all amenities. Large kitchen with living room, two bedrooms with double beds, patio. 
The only down side was weak stream in shower, but I guess this is problem of the island in general. Also the landlady does not speak good english (actually very bad), which might cause difficulties when having some trouble. The main room has A/C (heating), sattelite TV, free wifi. Parking is in the closed area, with enough space.

Great place to stay on La Palma

We had a great time staying here for two nights after a hiking trip here. We were greeted by the friendly receptionist and she showed us the small appartement complex. Our appartement was great, it was really clean, had a modern interior and everything you need: a big double bed, a safe, a wardrobe, a modern bathroom with shower, and a living room combined with a fully equiped kitchen. You can easily cook for yourself here, you have a big fridge including a freezer compartement, different pots and a pan, a toaster, microwave, everything you need to make your meals. Only an oven is not available, but that wasn't important to us.
We also used the spa area. There is a pool (which can be quite cool in winter), and an inside area with a whirlpool, turkish bath (steam bath) and a sauna. It is great, we used the whirlpool and the turkish bath and were perfectly relaxed afterwards. The best: there are no extra costs for this!
Another positive thing is that it is really quiet here, it was great to sit on the terrace and have a meal and to sleep deeply at night.
There's also space to park, but we didn't use it as we hiked here.
Beside the complex, there is a small bar and restaurant, about 10 minutes by food you're in the center of El Paso with supermarkets, cafés and so on.

We had a great time here and can fully reccommend this place to anybody!
