We found the owner to be very helpful, we needed to change our dates by 1 day early, this was not a problem. 

On arrival we were greeted by the owner booked in and given the room key. 
Double room with en-suite. 

Parking, we were asked if we would like to park in the downstairs garage, at no extra cost, however we decided to leave it by the front door, as the area is very quiet and the bikes are perfectly safe. 

Breakfast was good, a few choices, fresh rolls from the bakery next door, we had a few evening meals which were good and reasonably priced.   

The owner could be of more help, offering advice on where to go and what to see, even offering sat nav files too. 

The only downside is the rooms could do with an update, one thing to watch is the show water can get very hot so don’t just jump in and turn on!

On a good note there is a great drying area, also a washing machine too which you can use for a small donation. 

I can’t recommend this place enough, yes may need a little update but if you want a nice quiet area to stop in with a great host that knows all the best places to visit, it’s a no brainer!

If I can get down this way again this would be the place I would book without a shadow of a doubt!  Thanks Willem for a great stay. 

6 nights in Austria. 

We were made very welcome by our host, he gave us great advice and places to visit while we were here. Food was very good and room was clean and comfortable. Would recommend and use again. Lovely landscape and twists to venture on a motorcycle 

Bike tour holiday 

Loved our stay at the Hochalmspitze so much we came back for another few nights on our European tour. Everything for the motorcyclist - garage, tools, drying room, maps and advice. Nothing is too much trouble for owner Willem. Ask about the Special Day Challenge if you're staying a few days, you'll get sent on a special, secret, route! Evenings in the bar are fun and a chance to interact with the locals. Have fun, stay a few nights!

The motorcycle guesthouse of choice in the Gmund region

Sandra and I have just spent a week here. Willem is a great guy who really can’t do enough for you, nothing is too much trouble. 

We arrived on our bike (motorcycle) and Willem was straight outside to greet us and we soon had a couple of cold beers on hand and were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Dinner was good and plentiful and we then spent a while stargazing, the night sky here is amazing, so good that it’s difficult to make out the constellations. After a few more beers it was off to bed. The room was immaculately clean, the bed comfortable and when you turned the lights out you really couldn’t see your own hand in front of your face!

Breakfast was typically Austrian and plentiful with fresh bread straight from the bakery next door. 

We’d ridden from the UK in two days and had covered just over a thousand miles and we asked Willem if he could recommend a nice route for us to ride that wasn’t hundreds of miles and he gave us a corker of a ride, around 180 km of the best roads you’ll ever ride and even uploaded the route to my GPS. 

We left this morning and it felt like we were leaving a friend! 

Willem you’re a great guy and thank you so much for a great stay, we’ll be back to see you again.

Great Place to stay

We stayed here for seven nights while touring Europe by motorcycle. This is an ideal place for doing runs out to the surrounding areas, even within easy distance of Italy and Slovenia. The accommodation was all we needed - a good sized room with en-suite and a lovely view over the valley, an ample breakfast in the morning and the facility to have an evening meal if required. Pricing is very reasonable both for the accommodation and meals / drinks. Laundry facilities are available for residents. The village is a lovely example of a small rural Austrian village. Will, the owner, moved from England four years ago with his wife so there is no problem with language. Will is the perfect host - just ask and if it is possible he will do it for you. Will is also a motorcyclist and can download around sixty routes onto your sat-nav for days out. The nearest town is Gmund (about 4 km away) which also has numerous restaurants and a very interesting Porsche museum. Will can provide secure garaging and workshop for motorcycles if required, although to be honest you could leave your bike with the keys in it and nothing would happen. If you are looking for a holiday away from the usual touristy areas then give this a try. Be warned though that Austria appears to wake up early - the Church bells start at 6 am and chime for about five minutes every morning - something we experienced regularly on our tour - apparently it is to tell people to get up and into the fields!

An excellent place to stay while exploring southern Austria

second stay here with new owners will and vonn who are old freinds the new bar diner is brilliant and as is the terrace-would never get tired of the veiws excellant location and great beer and food good base for exploring the nocamstrasse and grossglockner (not good spelling!) rooms are basic but clean and tidyuse of washing machine and garage with tools if needed and a warm welcome

We stayed for two nights and found that nothing was too much trouble for Yvonne and Willem. Great food, beer, the location is just fantastic with super views. Willem knows the area well and can point you in the right direction. We will be back. We had a great time there having never been to Austria before. Oh and did I mention the beer, great.we
