Since November 2014 (seven months ago), here's a first review for this hotel. I spent five nights here on the 12th floor. Air conditioning for my room seems just fine. Outside was very comfortable while I was here, so this may be a factor? Unlike an earlier review, the window for my room did open. It did not seem like it at first.  I’m not sure what happened but I got it to open later on.  On the first night, the towels seemed poor quality and tore on use. Subsequent nights, the towels were still poor quality but stayed together. I only had breakfast here. The hair, claws and skin comment does not reflect what I encountered at breakfast, which was indeed Chinese, but was adequate and not so exotic. Service is excellent.

Stayed here five nights, will stay again

Stayed for a week during September 2014 in a twin room. Rooms were quite spacious with the basic amenities such as tea/coffee, free internet, desks/chairs, ironing board etc. The thing that bothered me most though was the air conditioner, which at full force still seemed rather lacking. The windows in my room were sealed shut, so that didn't help the already stuffy room, unable to let the room breath. The beds were comfortable and I had no troubles with noise during my week there. Bathroom seemed newly refurbished and could not fault.

My rate also included daily buffet breakfast, but the food left a lot to be desired. Firstly there is only one choice of cuisine: Chinese. That is fine by me, but worth noting if you are a foreign visitor. Secondly the selection is always the same, there are never any variations for the week I was there. The staff were quick to change out food, and were quite helpful in ordering any breakfast requests, such as cooking wontons and noodles.

Location-wise this hotel is excellent. Right next door to the newly-built Deji Plaza and almost in the heart of the Nanjing CBD. The subway is within walking distance and Taxis are everywhere (albeit difficult to hail during peak periods).

Overall a positive experience, and as noted by the reviewer below, mainly for Chinese nationals. But if you are looking for a prime location and comfortable stay (at least during the cooler months - looking at you the air conditioner!), Guoxin will do the job just fine.

Not bad, although room for improvement.

I would recommend this place to all sorts of travelers if they can overcome the language barrier by having a translation software in their phone. 

This property is generally occupied by Chinese nationals so do not expect English speaking staff. The reception staff manages a bit English but you really need some translation app. 

The location is just about perfect. Availability of taxi, metro/subway station nearby, a full fledged market just outside (not noise) 

From supermarkets, Hair saloons to restaurants everything is at a stone's throw. 

Hotel restaurant is also very nice and reasonable in price. 

We did not use any services other than stay but everything is in order in this place. 

A comfortable stay despite the language problem. 

There was a day when the man behind the reception counter went out on the road to stop a taxi for us.

Comfortable stay

I stayed at the Guoxin Hotel, Nanjing for four nights in April 2008. There was a EU-China workshop where I participated as speaker, so the hotel was paid for me. I therefore cannot comment on price-quality ratio, as I do ot know the price.

The hotel is quite nice, the rooms very ok, I had one with a floor-to-ceiling window wall, with an interesting (though not beautiful) view on this rapidly developing city.

If you bring your laptop, the internet access is free, but sometimes a bit slow.

The location is great: You can walk in 5 minutes to the city centre, and you can reach the Nanjing 1912 entertainment district in 15 minutes on foot. 

What I have to critizise, though, is that the staff's English is VERY poor and that the restaurant food (where we got our lunch) is VERY Chinese, totally catering to hard-core Chinese food fans. Others might like it, but the "real" Chinese food with animals still having their skin, bones and claws,  is not my choice normally.

But overall the hotel was a nice experience.
