We arrived at this hotel because the hotel we booked was closed on the night we arrived. We had no choice since we were tired so we just decided to stay at this place. 

For the next day we decided to book a trip to Halong and we got to pay 55 Usd for day tour. We haggled but then we were rushing for the trip. So we had no choice. 

Even for our bus trip to Vientiane! Horrible experience.
Never again. 

Scammed and Awful Owner

The guy who worked at this hostels scammed us with a moneyexchange trick. We found out later unfortunately. Next to that, we left our bags behind the desk when we went sightseeing in Hanoi. But when we returned i could tell he tried to get in my bag, because the knots i made where tied in a diverend way and the lock on my bag had been messed with. 

The room was horrible, with a flickering TL light, broken tv, hard beds and much noise. 

We where firsttimers and thought this was the "standard". But please, do NOT visit this hostel!

Scammers!

I was  poached at the airport by two guys in a silver vehicle claiming that they were taxi drivers and they would take me too my hotel. A third guy showed up and claimed to be the hotel owner of where I was going, claimed that they had run out of rooms and he was taking me too their second hotel, Turns out it was this backpackers where I was dumped with a  guy who tried to sign me up to various tours. 

The room I was dumped in  stank and mold was everywhere. I managed to escape in the morning and find my actual real hotel.

STAY AWAY  - ODD

The staff is nice, but they're kings of the scam... it's a pity for them... I'm booking a hotel that doesn't exist in HCMC... how to look for a hotel for two hours in a city like HCMC.... and trust the friendly staff of that hotel.... no luck either because I'm going back to Hanoi, in a moment, I'm going to see them... and not to sleep there.

Watch out for the scam.

I took a taxi to the center of Hanoi's old neighborhood and a person got into the car on the way to tell me that my hotel was full but that he had another to offer, so he took me to the Garnet Hotel which was twice as expensive and looking at the map I realized he had taken me far away from where I wanted to go!!! The hotel manager later tried to sell me towers at unimaginable prices up to 500 euros!!! Then a woman tried to change my western union I didn't want to insist she didn't like it, so I refused and it finally pissed him off, this hotel was a mess for me!

Central location, friendly staff, available, a safe place to feel good in Hanoi.

Nice, practical, excellent value for money

We still didn't understand what happened when we arrived at the Garnet. But it was the right address. The photos on tripadvisor didn't match at all what we found when we arrived. Fifth floor, no elevator, clean room but terribly sad: lizards in the walls, smells of cigarettes, bars on the windows. Nothing nice on the wall, just white... sdb not terrible and old.
