Our room was perfectly clean, new and had everything we needed. The breakfast is excellent, there is a nice spa and the people were really friendly and helpful. The lady who seemed to be at reception most spoke great English and was very hospitable. They will arrange for skis to be hired, delivered and returned and can also help with ski school etc. As a place to hang your head, this is a great choice.
Obviously this is not a hotel: there is no common area and the room we had had no view and so it is not a place you want to hang out in. It is also a walk up a steep hill so for anybody with difficulties walking it is not ideal. There is very little choice of restaurants in Obergurgl.

Clean, functional, good breakfast and friendly people

While I agree that this is a well-run, very friendly establishment, with clean, high quality accommodation, I was disappointed by the optional (€10) breakfast. Eggs and bacon were fine as was the standard yoghurt. The bread was not fresh on more than one occasion, the fruit salad was tinned and none of the jams was homemade. The coffee was drinkable but nothing special and the cereals were all mass-produced, high sugar, supplemented with rock-hard dried prunes, apple and apricot. This may sound unduly harsh but it was because everything else was of such high quality that it stood out. On not one day out of the 6 did I witness more than 2 couples taking the breakfast. I took it to avoid the inconvenience of buying and preparing the meal in my flat. 
A good, well thought-through breakfast makes such a difference and gives the day a great start; it also lures those who recognise the enjoyable benefit of fresh bread, homemade jams and quality organic cereal supplemented by home made fruit salad. And without the local radio programme providing loud music and comment in the background. 
Otherwise my stay was excellent and most enjoyable in this quiet location up the short, steep, hill that provided a healthy after dinner walk before bed.

Disappointing Haus breakfast

Typical Austrian efficiency.  Clean and tidy. Very comfortable.  Good heating, lots of hot water and comfortable bathroom.  150 meters from the slope.  Walk 150 then ski down to the Obergurgl with a choice of Hope Mut lift or Roskarbahn lift.  At the end of the day return to the same point.  You can self cater of have the house breakfast which is very good.  I shall return  if they aren't already booked.

1 week skiing

Excellent new place to stay in Obergurgl - everything pretty much brand new because it only opened around a year ago. Travelling solo but was given a large room with a huge double bed, a great shower room and a great view over towards the village. Hostess wonderful - extremely helpful with ski hire etc. The hostess arranged for me to be picked up by their affiliated Ski hire shop and then driven back to the house. The only meal they serve is a breakfast buffet which was excellent. Rooms cleaned daily - and a huge choice of TV channels on the satellite dish. Its about a five minute walk into the village - and even less to get onto the slopes. You just join the run 100 metres from the house, and ski down to the Hohe Mut gondola. You can ski almost to the house coming down the main drag from the Nederhutte.The other guests the week I was there were mainly German - having driven from their home cities - and really friendly too.

Thoroughly recommended - especially if you don't mind being slightly out of the village centre.

Close to the slopes, slightly outside the village

We loved every minute of our time in this place. Very friendly service within and excellent correspondence with the local ski supply. We even got fresh rolls delivered to the door every morning. Loved being just next to the ski slope, what a great way to start the day. And on the return the sauna helped relaxing.

Worth coming back anytime again

I stayed here for a week with my boyfriend in one of the apartments and had such a great time. The apartment itself was a very good size for 2 of us, possibly a bit small for 4 people. The apartment had all the essentials you need and was attended every day by a cleaner to remove garbage from all the bins (unusual I think). On some websites its advertised as a ski in/ski out which it pretty much is. Would say maybe 50 meter walk to get on the slopes. Its a 5-10 min walk to all the main hotels, restaurants, supermarket and bars but due to its setting, means the nights are quiet for a good nights sleep. Haus Aktiv also offer private ski lessons which were worth the money. Will definitely stay here again if returning to Obergurgl. Thank you Haus Aktiv :o)
