Our welcome by Helen who has excellent English was very welcoming and to our surprise knew exactly who we were and that we were being collected the following morning before we even walked through the door. Very impressive. The first nights stay was disappointing. The room was very short on space as there were a massive kingsized bed plus a single crammed into a small space so not much room to move around. Bathroom and the whole room was  a pverytired.Thebedhoweverwaverytcefreniscomfortable and the room being at the back of the hotel was very quiet. On our next stay 3 days later they upgraded us to the suite on the 3rd floor which was enormous had some great traditional touches and bathroom spacious and much more pleasant than the first. It was perfect for doing the big re pack for the next part of our trip. We found breakfast to be adequate. All in all this hotel is in a perfect spot the the thick of the hustle

Had a mixed visit over two separate occasions 

Stayed here two nights as part of a G adventures tour before moving to a hostel for my next two nights! 

Given my hostel was a 3rd of the price of this hotel, the service and facilities were x10 better than this hotel!

The rooms at this hotel were tiny, beds were literally 30cm apart and very difficult to move around the room! 

Staff were extremely rude not just to myself but other members of the group on several occasions! 

Breakfast was average, again been served better breakfast at my hostel! 

Stayed as part of a tour

We have just returned from Vietnam and we were met by an email from this hotel stating that we were a 'no show' on 26th January 2017. Me and my partner were staying with G Adventures at the hotel for 2 nights (at the end of the tour) and we booked an additional night ,which was paid for on Wednesday 24th January . The hotel refuses to accept we have paid and in fact even went as far as to state that we were not in the hotel. We have refuted the allegations and provided a screenshot of the monies paid to the hotel, but booking.com and the hotel wont accept it. We have now involved the credit card provider and G adventures to sort out the mess. I would strongly recommend that people dont stay here because they are dishonest and incompetent at running a hotel.

Beware - Incompetent hotel staff. Requesting us to pay for a hotel night that has already been paid for.

We spent four nights in Hanoi.  It was a great visit,.  Really happy with this hotel.  Wonderful staff, super helpful, always accommodating.  Ms Suong is pleasant every morning.  Hotel is well-located, just a few blocks up from the lake, surrounded by shops.  

Hong Ngoc is really nice

Small but tidy rooms with everything that you'd need for a short stay. Staff very helpful and kind. Location good. In the middle of most attractions. Walking distance to many things.  Only issue was the lack of hot water for two people but scheduling showers apart would fix that. 

Tidy Small Hotel

Upper luxury vip room (501) very spacious. With large windows and balcony which is rather rare in Hanoi for mid-range hotels. Furniture and exotic wood parquet, it's beautiful. Bed comfort is imprecise and I'm demanding on this point. Just the cathode TV would be to be changed and the electricity to be restored (no power to bed).

four-day visit to Hanoi

I agree with all the positive reviews!) with its location this hotel is simply indispensable for those who want to get to know Hanoi! it is these hotels that create a part of the positive impression about the city! and if you come to Hanoi again, without thinking, I would stay in this hotel!). I don't agree with those who are unhappy with breakfast) breakfast is not bad! no more! get up! charged coffee! and go to get to know the city!

Very good.

We've used the hotel as a stopover for various tours. The good thing is that it's very centrally located in the old city of Hanoi. However, the rooms are very crowded. Let me give you a room from the fifth floor; they are very neat below. The manager was very helpful; he also speaks a little German.

Very old hotel, but very central

In March 2016, we were staying at this beautiful hotel in the middle of the old town. The large room was rustic, with a small balcony. The breakfast was rich and varied, the staff very friendly and helpful. From here you can easily reach Hoan Kiem Lake and the popular tourist attractions.

Very nice hotel in the old town

I have stayed several times in this hotel which I particularly appreciate. The manager and the rest of the staff are really charming. The rooms are rather spacious (at least the Deluxe ones!) and clean. In my opinion, the main strength of this hotel is its proximity to Hoan Kiem Lake (about 200 meters). Its weak point? Its breakfast buffet...
