I have to say that Pension IBAI surprised me in a very good way.  This was my first time staying at a place with shared bathrooms and those were impeccably clean. We stayed at a two bedroom and it was comfortable, clean and beds were made every single day. The place is quiet and the staff is great! I stayed with my daughter and we felt safe and welcome. If you are going to have fun, some drinks and the best "tapas" this is the place since is walking distance for every nice spot in Donostia. I definitely recommend this place and for sure will stay there if I go back to San Sebastian.

My first time staying in a Pension

The room has a ventilator and in the summer it may not be enough, the room was somewhat sloppy, although the bathrooms are very clean, so the guy who received us is fine for a couple of nights.

Good location, quality and regular price.

Not like your average hostel. There is a sweet lady who cleans up after everyone. Made our beds and gave us fresh towels everyday. Bit of a language barrier but you get there in the end. Pretty central to all things that you need, with good places to eat and drink close by. 

There is no lift however, so be aware you’ll have to carry your bags upstairs (if your not a light packer) 

A+ hostel 

The staff were very friendly and even though the woman spoke no English she tried very hard to understand and communicate with us. The rooms were very clean and they changed the bedding each day and gave us fresh towels. The whole place was very clean, I felt like the woman was continuously cleaning. Good location as well 

Great place 

We stayed 2 nights in this boarding house, when we arrived a very good reception in French. We were given a plan with explanations and advice. The rooms and toilets are clean, the decoration is old fashioned, the bed is to be reviewed. Sensitive to noise, I suffered from the lack of insulation between the rooms and the common areas, especially since our neighbors were unfortunately not respectful!!! The windows, on the other hand, insulate a lot of outside noise. The geographic situation is perfect. Ideal for a short stay.

Good quality price ratio

It seems that the previous reviews do not correspond to this boarding house! One of them is about Toronto!! Mistake of timing for this review!! Boarding house in San Sebastian (Spain) very well located, in the heart of the old town. Very clean room and bathroom. The gentleman who received us is very kind and full of good advice. I recommend this boarding house.

Excellent location in the old Donostiar part, regented by a very pleasant wedding, has a nearby parking agreement.

Excellent situation 

I stayed here for one night. The room was clean and small. There was plenty of storage and a small TV. The single bed was comfortable. The bathrooms had terrific showers and were clean. There were several of them. The WiFi was not as good as in other places I have stayed and phone signal reception was poor. Maybe that was down to the room I was in. The member of staff who greeted me was quite a surly individual. It turned out he was the man who had phoned me prior to my arrival expecting me to pay €25 more for my room. I had a booking with Agoda and complained to them. They resolved the problem. In a nutshell it seemed there was a festival in San Sebastián and the hotel no longer had a single room available. My complaint to them was that festivals don't just occur without warning and that they should honour my booking.

Nice place but surly staff.

This place must have recently had a refurb/be under new management as it was extremely clean, quiet and well maintained. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. And the location cannot be beat; it is steps away from the best places in the city to eat and just blocks away from the beach.

Great Location/Super Clean

Three-three-three-three-three bad experience in this hotel, dirty rooms, broken beds, dirty and spartiate bathrooms, disgusting collective kitchenette, dishonest staff, unless you get used to living in a war zone, go your way.
