Clean hostel in a quiet area not too far from the center (15 minutes walk).

Good choice for Santo Domingo

El Hostal Los Jensen, is a good place to stay in Santo Domingo, Rd. If you don't have many petitions, it's a hostel that meets the needs. The rooms are clean, the air conditioning works and I understand that it has its own power plant which is very important, since with the heat being without air is problematic. It is relatively close to the colonial area and the mall.

A short stay in Santo Domingo

It's a hostel with a good location near Independence Avenue. We didn't have hot water but it wasn't needed. I needed it in the first rooms of the hallway as I was last touched and the next day the light went out and started operating the plant which is very noisy. The rest I leave to the imagination. Good air conditioning and good bed. It has a cool executive. Cable TV acceptable.

Simplicity is the key.

The area is safe, but there's not much to offer around and at night it's pretty dead. Although there are a few rooms nearby, it's not integrated into a moving area (bars, restaurants, shops, etc.) that you can walk around. Accommodation: Correcta. C's are very large, hard and soft. Single bathroom. NO hot rooms (usually in this type of accommodation in the Dominican Republic). Almost all the time, there is a noise (comor or something suppressed) that can be heard per night depending on the room you sleep in.

A simple hostal not far from the Zona Colonial, a 10 minute walk. All the building is quite dated and in need of a renovation but it is in decent condition and the room we stayed even if it didn't looked very nice had air-con and a flat screen tv and the bed was not bad. A big plus is the few parking places just in front of the hotel door, very helpful if you are travelling with a car.

simple hostal close to the Zona Colonial

Things I liked: Walk distance to Zona Colonial, also to the Malecon. Easy to take public transportation, too. Some good restaurants are found in the neighborhood. A couple of grocery stores and drugstores at hand. As per the Hostal: Friendly staff; I could pay on arrival; there is a good kitchen for the guests; a living room and a terrace with a jacuzzi (on top of the building) also available; the room I`ve got was spacious enough, with a TV set, a small fridge, a good bed, good bathroom, and both aa and a ceiling fan (celan room, and all things worked well); wi-fi available in all areas, though sometimes the signal got weak. 
I did not like: The aa compressor system was noisy near my room, and it was horrible at night, though sometimes it did not worked at all.

Budget accommodation close to Zona Colonial

My room (208) was on the back of the hostel where there is the inner courtyard with a large mango tree, quiet, no street noise except bird's clap, some little dog barking and the whistling of mango leaves. The room is not large but medium sized with a double bed (a little short) open closet, table with lamp, air conditioning, satellite TV, phone, bathroom with shower basin and WC. The cleaning is done every day even if quite superficial on the pavement (hair...), sheets and towels every 2/3 days. The reception boys are very kind and, there is a kitchen to be available if you want to have a dish and I can order something. Divine, wholesomewhere with a clean bathroom and toilet.

Comfortable in the historic center, quiet, informal.

I stayed with my family in October 2015, very well located, the staff very friendly, the hostel very clean and comfortable and super economical price... I recommend it for those who want to feel at home.....

Excellent in care, location, convenience and price....

We stayed in this 'hostel' for two nights and were very disappointed. There were cockroaches in the bathroom, the beds were hard, with no blanket and the pillows like pancakes. The headboard was falling out of the wall and there were mosquitoes with no nets on windows or for the bed either... The 'hot tub' on The roof is broken and it is not even lit up there except that some local people had rented to roof for a loud party so we couldn't even go up there. But the generator for the roof lights blasted all the rooms with noise all night long.... The place is more a hovel of a motel than a hostel. It's a fairly good location for eating and visiting the zona colonial or malecon on foot but it was so misleading with the photos online and previous reviews that we felt we had to get a different perspective written down here for the next people reading about the place. 

Dirty noisy and misleading.

I stayed in the month of October 2015, the excellent location, close to banks, pharmacies, public transport stop, a two-quarter walk from the malecón, the rue el conde, markets.The hostel is simple but very nice, the rooms are comfortable and almost everything new, the air conditioning, TV and dichas worked perfectly, has a kitchen with the basic facilities and spacious jacuzzi for refreshment.Remmy and Danielson the guys at the reception are excellent workers, treat you wonderfully, very attentive and helpful.I recommend this with my eyes closed.
