A truly magnificent hotel in the quaint old-town area of Landshut with dozens of shops and restaurants within a few minutes walk.  The breakfast was outstanding and included  in the very reasonable price, as was private parking.  The room was large and immaculate, and the wi-fi was superb.  Frau Muller was so friendly and incredibly helpful with everything about the hotel (which also has a very nice restaurant and outside terrasse out back) and everything available to us nearby.  If you're in the area, stay here.  You won't be disappointed!

A Wonderful Discovery and Experience in Landshut, Germany.

I stopped for a night before flying out of Munich to experience the Advent Market.  The hotel had that lovely old world charm and is situated in the center of things.  I just had breakfast there and it was more than adequate.  I might be back in future years.

Enjoyable Stay Near the Airport

Firstly what a town, just lovely and the position of the Goldene Sonne is perfect.
An easy 5 minute bus ride from the main station, take the number 3 for 2 euro and you will be dropped at the door.
We stayed in the Albert suite which was lovely. Really comfortable and plenty of space.  Beautiful views over the rooftops.

The staff on the desk were not overly helpful (or friendly for that matter), possibly a bit of a language gap, we don’t speak German.  Bit the same with the staff in the breakfast room.

However everyone we interacted with on the buses, at the railway station and at a number of restaurants where we visited where so helpful despite limited English.  Maybe the staff at the hotel could learn something from the bus and train staff.

If you are travelling to Germany, consider Landshut and certainly the Golden Sonne.

Landshut - what a find

Update...the rooms have been refreshed and our very smart. Modern and contemporary. The staff are the same lovely friendly team. You feel very welcome. 

Great location. 

I have stayed here two or three times over the last 4 years,  It is a lovely place.  
Plus points in my opinion:  location - very near the very pretty centre of Landshut so easy to walk to the chocolate box main street in 4 minutes, lovely traditional style wood and pine bars, restaurants and reception, lovely outdoor eating and drinking area in a secluded area at the back, lovely staff, comfortable rooms with nice beds.  
Minus points: pretty small really!  the rooms have great blinds and curtains but no aircon and it can get warm, you are near the town centre so it is not door mouse quiet until the town goes to sleep. We will stay again. Aircon would be a great upgrade! 

Quality, friendly, comfortable Family owned Hotel in great location

My wife and I, ages 83 and 85, stayed at the Goldener Sonne hotel in 2018 in a 2 bed suite and paid when we checked out; as is normal. We booked for 11 to 15 June this year (2019) in the Albert and Theresa suites at a cost of 1504 euro. I gave my credit card details to confirm the reservation. I was shocked when on  the 4 June I saw that 1504 euro had been taken from my credit card plus a bank charge of £40. I contacted the hotel by email to say that as in 2018 I intended to pay cash for our stay when checking out. and would like to have the credit card payment refunded.
 At the hotel I asked for the repayment plus the payment of the credit card charges of £40 but it was flatly and aggressively refused by the assistant manager who also refused to hand over the keys until I had given her my credit card so I demanded to see the hotel owner This process and disagreeable argument lasted over 20 minutes.

The owner Herr Baier was most unpleasant and refused to accept that the reservation conditions did not require payment in advance but stated that 'cancellation was free up to days in advance with a cancellation fee after that period '. I pointed out the lack of telephones in the rooms and he replied that if guests would have to use mobile phones. For the remainder of our stay the staff were almost hostile. Landshut is beautiful and the weather was perfect, but we were very pleased to leave the hotel after 4 days expensive and stressful stay at the Goldene Sonne

Stressful and unpleasant disagreement with owner and staff regarding payment prior to arrival

I stayed here for one night whilst on business. At the time all hotels in the surrounding area were full so I was forced to pay more than I would normally expect. However for the money I got a 3 bedroom house complete with kitchen and very spacious bathroom.
Consisting of three floors the house is a timber framed building in typical Bavarian design there was also a small balcony. The heating was very effective to the extent I had to turn it off. 
Initially wifi wasn't good but after I reset the router it was fine. 
Breakfast was good with an assortment on offer and in a pleasant surroundings. I had dinner in the restaurant which though good was expensive considering what I had.
There is minimal parking within the hotel courtyard but there is on street parking which is free from 7pm - 9am. For a family the room(s) I had would be ideal. I had a peaceful nights sleep and overall a nice but brief stay.

Authentic Bavarian hotel

We totally loved our stay.  The rooms were awesome and the breakfast buffet was beyond awesome.  Everyone was super helpful and nice.  Highly recommend staying here and look forward to returning some day.

Fun in Germany

I book a week before and it is simple and fast.
The workers are professionals and the frame is very authentic.
The room is quiet and clean.
The breakfast was good and complete.
The hotel is in city center and with all the businesses and the restaurants nearby.
I recommend the parking lot of the hotel, the car park is forbidden on the square on Fridays mornings at the risk of car removal.

very nice

THe Hotel is well appointed and has a fantastic beer garden to the rear.  In warm weather the smell of box is overpowering.  Accommodation is good but the road to the front is cobbled and the noise of traffic passing can be considerable.
