I booked into The Riviera Hotel because where I usually stay was fully booked and this was close by. The pictures on the internet looked good, very misleading. My full payment was taken on arrival which is not usual, I was told that the front door is locked after working hours so I had to use an entrance around the side of the building, not good for a lone female travelling. The room was dark and tatty, the shower head did not work properly and moved up every time any pressure went through it. The worst thing was the smell, it was awful, no one around to speak to as the lady at breakfast did not speak any English. after returning back from work on day two I noticed I had ants in my bed and all around the floor where the bedside table was. I was out of there straight away..

Terrible hotel

It was clean and central! There's nothing more positive to say about it! Breakfast was available only from 7 to 8 hours! It was more a boarding house than a hotel! The whole hotel had a very unpleasant smell! I've never stayed in a hotel like this before but everything else was booked!

For a congress, I slept here in November 2016 for four nights; the room was small but had a pleasantly large cupboard, behind which there was also good space to drop off a very large suitcase. The Wi-Fi worked smoothly, the sheet for the right network was not immediately visible, the password was with the key from the safe. The hotel is within a few minutes walking distance from the train station; it is already accessible from outside via a two-way staircase and it also has no elevator. It is small, I estimate 20 or 30 rooms, the guests are very mixed; the letters at the entrance door indicate that you are staying here for breakfast too. The breakfast is rich and wishes are also fulfilled.
