The room is basic, while the bathroom is very basic, towels stink with mold and cigarette smoke. The rain shower head does not work in the room. The balcony leads to construction and the place appears to be under construction. The reason why this experience is terrible is that the corridors and the room are filled with cigarette smoke. At night smoke seeps in from everywhere. Also, the telephone in the room doesn't work. The hotel has hardly any guests, but when we turned up the the breakfast, we were told that it had closed. We were offered the scraps, which the staff that lazily pulled themselves off the dining room couches quickly took to the kitchen too. Just a negative, unfriendly, unpleasant experience. 

Just a terrible experience

I stayed at the hotel for 9 days whilst in the country to organise my fathers funeral. He died in the city. I can not speak highly enough of Aziz and the rest of the staff at the hotel. We were collected and dropped off at the airport, helped with taxis, food restaurant orders and even with the logistics of organising a wake. I came to the country not knowing what to expect and I left with an element of regret that I was leaving. I would certainly like to visit the country again and without doubt I would look to be staying in the same place again. If anyone British wants any advice about the area feel free to message me and I will do my best to help. The hotel also has a billiards room, table tennis, a gym, a Chinese restaurant and an amazing coffee shop called Brio.

Made to feel so welcome

We were offered a free transfer from airport to the hotel, but a car with police Siren took us from airport to our hotel, with a high speed and some times they switched on police siren to get off the cars or to be able to pass when the traffic light was red. I was really  worry with such fast driving and still i do not understand why a hotel use a car with police Siren for transportation.
The hotel is nice, quick check in, nice clean room and shower and a great balcony for evening drink. 
Breakfast was simple and the restaurant was a bit smelly in that time.

a Normal Hotel

We stayed here a couple nights in late October. We had been staying in homestays and looking for a comfortable spot. This hotel caters to Chinese visitors but they were open to 5 Americans and 2 Kyrgyz citizens. The manager was super nice and the staff was incredibly friendly. The rooms were nice but the beds were very stiff and the showers didn't work very well. The location is awesome.

Great place to Say with a Friendly Staff

Hotel is newish and clean.  Rooms are good sized.  WiFi is good.  Hotel safe and secure.  

The staff including manager Aziz are great.  Really friendly and hospitable. Went way beyond average service.  

Only negative.  The beds are really hard.

We stayed there for 2 nights. The matresses was hard as stone, and we had to put a lot of blankets to make it a minimum comfortable. There should be a fridge in such a hotel. Room service was average. There was a smell in the bathroom. Breakfast was ok. Very strange they did not accept creditcard for payment. Conclution; Better find another one...

No cards acceptable

Having stayed in multiple hotels/guesthouses in Osh, I would rate Shanghai as one of the worst performers.  Rooms are very basic (poor value for money) with brick-hard beds, I had no cleaning services over 2 days, and included breakfasts - awful.  I would suggest staying anywhere other than this hotel during stay in Osh.

Overpriced and underwhelming

I stayed there one night. First of all, the bathroom was smelling very badly due to the canalisation(?) or similar. The situation was the same after I requested to change my room. Shortly after check-in I was called from the reception I was called and told that payment can be done in cash only. Issue was managed after, due to the constructive aprroach of the receptionist guy who had recognised the uncomfortable situation caused by hotel's poor services. Bathroom was not really clean, toilet and showe were within the same space. It means there was no shower cabin, which is quite strange for a hotel stating 4 stars about itself. All the equipment of the room was quite old and not well-maintained. The management is Chinese, which is reflected in breakfast items, decoration, accesoires. Location is not bad but in the beginning is a bit hard to find the hotel, because is located inside an industrial area or whatever it is.
