Booked 2 nights with my partner in this charming Bed & Breakfast. We were warmly welcomed by the owners. They were also helpful in providing a map of the area and gave tips to make our stay here unforgettable.

The B&B is situated only a short walk from the Lake and the centre of the town. And we a very tasty restaurant is also only a few streets away!

The room was quaint and the shower was amazing! The garden of the B&B was an oasis of flowers and in the evenings we could sit on the provided chairs and enjoy the tranquility of the garden. 

I can't find any fault except for the morning coffee, but I'm not a fan of chicory. The rest of the breakfast catered for every taste!

I'll definitely be booking here again at my next trip to Keszthely!

Dreamy Getaway!

This beautiful little Pension lies just outside the main town in an area of stylish villas and gardens. This Pension is easy to find because it is simply the most beautifully presented building in the area with a wonderful garden. We were warmly welcomed and offered refreshments and information. Our room was adequate sized and well furnished with access to a private balcony which ran two sides of the house and offered lovely views of the flowery garden. As others have noted the en suite bathrooms are an addition in an old building and so they are very small, but ours was perfectly adequate, there was plenty of hot water and an effective shower curtain which kept it where it should be! 
We were enormously impressed by the breakfast which we ate in the garden. To be honest I do not think I have ever seen a better breakfast in a Pension or B&B - better than some five star hotels. All the obvious things and so much more - eggs cooked to order - home made pastries - a great selection of breads, biscuits, rolls and so on. 
This was our first trip to Balaton and we had only one night at this Pension before going on to Baltonfüred. With hindsight we should have stayed here! I certainly hope to return.
My partner is Austrian and so we were able to communicate in German. But I think our charming hostess also speaks good English. But the English do not do B&B or Pensions like this any more - if they ever did - so I would have to use a German word to sum up the atmosphere here - gemütlich.

Sublime Pension managed with love

I have stayed here for one night with friends and we wish we were more. The yard is full of beautiful plants like a small orangery. Rooms are colorful with a warm oldstyle charm. The owner lady and her colleagues are really friendly and as a guest you can realize that the customer's contentment is important here. The building looks like a little fairy castle. Rooms were clean, bed comfortable, free WiFi worked well. Breakfast was tasty & plenteous with large selection of everything. Plus the price is pretty reasonable.

Beautiful garden, friendly owner with superb hospitality and nice rooms.

Warmest Welcome!
We stayed for a week at the Ilona Guesthouse in August. We found Annika, her husband Zoltan, and daughter Rebeka, most welcoming and helpful. We were picked up from, and delivered back to, the train station with friendliness and efficiency. There was no request that was too much! Not a lot of English was understood and it helps to have some German, if Hungarian is beyond your grasp!

We had one of the more economical rooms and it was decent sized by European standards. It had a comfortable king size bed, which took up a lot of the room. There were 2 pillows each. (One deficit was the lack of adequate light to read by.) There also was a small table, with 2 chairs, a small chest of drawers with a TV, and a an armoire with ample space for hanging clothes. The bathroom was snug but adequate, the hot water plentiful and the water pressure good. The shower curtain was only moderately effective. We happened to be staying when the temperatures soared into the 100's and so our non air conditioned room, was quite hot, even with a fan. The window could not open all the way due to the TV being in the way and there was no screen on the balcony door to keep out the few mosquitoes. But the nights were cool, so by the morning, the room was fresh again. The area is residential and quiet.

Most charming was the "Romeo and Juliet" balcony (with a tablecloth covered table and 2 chairs with cushions) overlooking the garden. There also was room enough on the balcony for a large laundry drying rack for clothes. As we forgot towels for the beach, we were generously offered towels to use on outings.

The beach is a 15 minute walk away, and we were able to bike both to the beach and into town easily. There was a casual restaurant with good food a five minute walk away, and others a short bike ride away. The bus to Heviz leaves from a station next to the train station, a 15 minute walk from Ilona's. As it was raining, Zoltan kindly gave me a ride to the station. The lake experience at Heviz is not to be missed if you are seeking a healing or meditative experience. And I found a great shoe store in Heviz!

We rented a car for a couple of days from Fox in Heviz and they delivered it to Ilona's for a 12 Euro charge.

The lovely breakfast was like a treasure trove of interesting items. Breakfast is served from 8 to 10 but the hosts are flexible and accommodating. I would recommend coming earlier than later as the food is kept warm in candlelit warmers. The garden area was lovely, with a small pond, covered swing, chairs and several chaise lounges. There seemed always to be room. Breakfast was served here when the weather was good.

In the communal central area of the house, there are 2 fridges: one with drinks for sale at good prices and another for guests to use. There are also 2 communal tables and facilities for making coffee/tea and a burner if you have the hankering to cook a little. Periodically treats (candies, chocolate bars, fruit) would also appear in the common area. There were also some games and books available.

We used the bikes on several days and they were of a very good quality. Locks and lights were supplied. Just take the time to ensure the bike you are given is the right size and the seat adjusted to your height. 

We used the free wifi but it did not work in the rooms, only the communal areas.

We had a lovely week at Ilona's and would be happy to return.

Warmest Welcome!

I can only echo what others have said about this charming guesthouse. Anika and her family are so very welcoming and the language barrier was not a problem, with a little playacting. Anika provided maps and ideas for places to go - even drawing out a child friendly route through the town with various stops on one overcast day.

The rooms were well laid out and we had a fridge, sink, microwave and lots of crockery and cutlery. Our daughter loved sleeping in one of the towers.

The guesthouse is a little away from the centre of town in a quiet area with plenty of parking. At a holiday paced stroll it takes about 10 minutes to get to the beach and in 15 minutes you can be at the main square or the train/bus station.

The wifi worked well throughout our stay.

I can't finish without mentioning the breakfast - even the fussiest of eaters will find something as there are so many options.

They even gave us a lift to the bus station on the day we left. We had a great stay and would highly recommend this as your base in Kesthely.
