I stayed 4 nights at this guesthouse in Samarkand.

John, the owner, and his staff are incredibly warm and friendly. He kindly invited another visitor and me to dinner one night. We dined with his family and during the course of our lovely conversation, I learned so much about Uzbekistan from him. 

My room was clean and well-prepared. New bottles of water were offered each day. 

The breakfast - wow! - is varied and delicious. 

It is located a short walk from Registran which is terrific for waking up early to get there at dawn/sunrise when there are few people.  There are also a number of mini-markets and restaurants along the main road between the hotel and Registran.

Friendly and beautiful guesthouse located a short walk from Registran

I had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. It is located in a very convenient location. It is only a short walk to the Registan and most of Samarkands other attractions.
It is also within easy proximity of coffee shops and restaurants and an atm.
The hotel is authentic by design. It is not a plush hotel but rather rustic and charming.
The rooms are well presented and very clean. I actually had a 4 bed room for my stay. It had been the last room available and it was excellently priced.
There are tea and coffee making facilities and water provided  in the room and the wifi was really good.
I thought the manager Odil was really friendly and helpful. He spoke good English and was more than happy to assist with any requests. He kindly arranged a taxi to Samarkand train station for me on the day of my departure. 
The breakfast was generous and well presented. I thought the ladies working in the kitchen and the dining room were delightful.

A charming and rustic hotel situated in a great location

Fabulous stay. Thanks Beck you were so helpful, so friendly - we will be back. 
Good location - just set back from Registan - easy 5/10 min walk. Safe, secure, quiet guest house - lovely breakfasts. Room warm and cosy with nice warm shower. 
Samarkand is a great place to explore and this is a perfect location to do it from.

Beck organised a taxi from airport $10 and helped us find the bank to change cash into UZ Som.

A little Oasis inside a lovely historic city

Room was spacious and very clean.  Staff were very accommodating and courteous.  Served very tasty breakfast.  Located very close to Ragistan Square so we walked to see illumination at night in no time.  I would definitely recommend this hotel.

 Nice stay, both locations were quiet. The initial location was best, decent breakfast also. Manager Odil was extremely helpful, as I needed some running repairs, and he organised a visit and transport to a medical clinic. Much appreciated.

Disliked · Bit awkward moving between locations mid stay. No big deal however.

There are a few small issues but were attended to quickly. Other than that, considering the location and cost, it wins me over. Just walking to the Square is a wonderful experience.  Rooms are small but clean and functional.  Wifi sometimes is overwhelmed.

We fell in love with the Jahongir Guest House!  

It is a graciously welcoming and impressively comfortable small hotel. You’ll feel at home instantly.  More importantly, you’ll feel well cared for.  We had an unfortunate incident with a local travel agency that charged way too much for our train tickets to Bukhara.  The management at Jahongir were tremendously kind and worked diligently to sort that out for us.  Somehow they managed to get back almost half of what we paid!!   We are soooo grateful.  

I highly recommend this beautiful little hotel to all travelers.  The location is excellent, the staff  kind and accommodating, and the rooms comfortable and impressively clean.  We will be back soon!

 

You will feel well cared for . . . 

We absolutely loved our stay at the Jahongir.  It feels as much a home as a hotel. Apparently, it is UNESCO listed and is “aged with character” which some will love as we did. It was a nice step into the local culture after being in the lovely Marriott in Tashkent! The inner courtyard here is green and tranquil as the photos show.  Rooms are basic but charming, with a lot of local colour in the décor.  This is the kind of place where it is easy to connect with other guests if one wishes.  Breakfast offered some very nice choices or cooked and fresh produce and a good coffee machine!  The women staff were smiley and helpful.

Best thing about this hotel is its location, with an easy 10-minute walk to the Registan.

Manager Odil speaks good English and was very helpful.  His assistant organised a very good guide to take us to Amankutan area for half a day.


A wonderful first taste of authentic Uzbeki hospitality

Really cool hotel! The ambience is spectacular! We stayed for one night and it was a part of our Uzbek experience! The building is very traditional and the rooms are beautiful! The AC works great, it’s clean and felt really welcoming! The courtyard is stunning. Also the rooms are very spacious. 

Only minus are very hard beds but we were so tired from the sightseeing all day, we managed to sleep regardless of that.

The photos didn't show the reality . Beds are very very very uncomfortable  . The management is very exploitative  , no free of charge advices or guidance  .  However,  the breakfast was not bad  and the girls were polite.
