My husband and I had a very nice room in this older hotel in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City's action.  Our room was very quiet, had coffee and tea making facilities and bottled water supplied each day.  The room was very clean and comfortable. We did see a few small bugs in the bathroom however.  A free breakfast is offered. Front desk staff were very friendly. We booked a wonderful tour to the Chu Chi tunnels at the front tour desk. The hotel is within walking distance to the Ben Thanh market, the beautiful Notre-Dame Cathedral, Post Office, War Remnants Museum and Reunification Palace. Lots of great restaurants nearby with one 5-star inexpensive "must eat" (The Garlik Restaurant) practically just around the corner.

Very nice room

(Hotel has been renamed Eden Garden Hotel). The service here, in my experience, is quite good, and the reception staff are lovely and very friendly. However, the rooms really let this place down. We were a party of two couples and we had two deluxe rooms. They smelled damp and musty, and were quite dark and cramped. Our bathroom was very dirty (there was hair and dirt marks in the shower) and there was mold on the ceilings and walls. The beds were also very hard (could feel the springs through the mattress) and sheets and pillow cases were stained. There are so many hotels to choose from in this area that I cannot recommend staying here.

Small, damp, dirty rooms

Wi-Fi doesn't work in the room, only in the lobby, you can access the Internet. I liked the room. It's very comfortable, clean, nice and spacious. The staff is friendly and useful. Breakfast is fine. Stay for a few nights maximum!!! It's impossible to sleep on the lower floors because the CLUB is downstairs!

Not a bad hotel.

Nice small hotel providing laundry service, very good breakfast; the rooms are a bit old but comfortable, the reception staff is competent and friendly; very well located, you can easily visit Saigon on foot from the hotel. The small snack next door is very useful and welcoming.

simple and well situated

If you're looking for a clean and affordable accommodation in Saigon, you're right here. The rooms are well-cleaned and the VIP room is very large in proportion to the affordable price. We've been able to explore downtown from here on foot and there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Be careful when choosing a room, there are probably (cheaper) windowless ones as well.

Clean and cheap

Stayed here for a couple of nights either side of our trip to Vietnam in October. It was my 4th trip to Vietnam and I've stayed here before. The hotel is small and has a working lift. The staff are nice and friendly and helped book a train ticket for us to Mui Ne. We booked the suite room for $50 which we thought was good value. Breakfast is very average but there are loads of good food places around. Very central and in walking distance of everything. Would stay here again. 

Still nice

My husband and I have stayed at Lac Vien on a number of previous occasions. This was to be our last, and in fact we checked out the day after we arrived, instead of staying the 4 days that we had booked.

EXTREMELY noisy, we only managed about an hours sleep.

phone pulled out of wall so not usable, television didn't have channels advertised, the safe didn't work - and after brining this to  the attention of staff, they offered a $2 discount.

All of the above was not as bad at the disappointment we felt at not receiving the room that we booked, being offered a very poor excuse, and being relocated into a dingy room at the rear of the hotel.

There are much better value hotels in HCMC, that are cheaper, with better service and deliver what they promise.

Disspointing

You can stay for 1-2 nights no more, as there are nightclubs near the hotel, music plays all night, sleep is not possible (high street noise). Breakfast is medium, no choice. Very bad.!!!!!

That's bad.

Lac Vien Hotel is located in District 1 in HCMC. This is an inexpensive hotel close to shopping, good food and nightly entertainment. The hotel is located off the busy road and is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are looking to a clean affordable hotel in HCMC try Lac Vien.

Ho Chi Minh Vietnam Hotel

I lived in vip.5, a spacious and clean room. Lost, but with a surcharge justified my $25 a day. A tasty breakfast, though a small selection. Welcome girls at the reception, but the room service at each cleaning was in the personal stuff, I didn't get the earphones from the iPhone and a small bag with clothes, but after talking to the administration, the earphones were returned, and here they are.
