Everything at this place was perfect. Maria is a wonderful person, the hotel is perfectly located, it is just 5 minutes walking to the Sambodromo, it is next to Lapa and it is located in a safe place. Our room was very nice and clean. The breakfast was just perfect, with different typical Brazilian food and fruits. We would definitely stay again there when we go back to Rio. Thank you for providing such an amazing place and service, you made our days very pleasant.

Lovely place with lovely service

We stayed here for two nights originally as our first hostel we had booked was awful! We then stayed a third night when we returned to Rio. We can not give high enough praise for Ana and Maria's service. They looked after us throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spotless, we stayed in the large double room first and then the twin room. We did prefer the double but both rooms were great. 
The breakfast cooked by Maria was the best breakfast we had during our time in Brazil; and we stayed in 6 hotels. Although the location is a bus journey from the beach, Ana was so helpful in giving us directions and providing us with a map that we made the journey fine and it was a small price to pay for the hospitality they offered. 
We will definitely be booking here again when we return to Rio! 

Best BnB in Rio!

Arrived in Rio 3hr delayed flight from Madrid, so informed Lapa Checa, they emailed me back, not a problem. Took a cab at the airport, went straight to the place. At first, it is quite a weird entrance. It's an apartment block and there are no signs what so ever of the b&b. People in Brazil don't speak English. Just keep that in mind. However, after the doorman called Maria, she welcomed us in Portuguese and told us all we needed to know. My girlfriend got sick (very) and she couldn't come to the breakfast so Maria decided to make breakfast for her and bring to the room. 
Both Maria and Ana are very lovely friendly ladies trying their best to make you happy while staying in Rio. 
Lapa is quite a busy and chaotic area. I hear some people saying: 'that's South America' but if you've never been in Lapa, and got no idea where to go, it's scary. It's chaos. 
Anyways breakfast good, Maria and Ana super people, price definitely very good according to quality, good WiFi (fast) free water in your room, TV, etc.
Shower is nice.

People are super friendly and give you instruction. Food was awsome and lots of choice (fruts, bread, cookies, chees and ham, everything you need), also fresh juice and milk. Lot of tip where to go and what to do. They also accept US$ no need to look for exchange office. 5 min walk from there, there is cool restaurant per " kilogram", you will never spend more than 5 us$

Rio Brazil

Accommodations are perfect. This B&B  is contained within a condo building, so initial arrival can be a bit confusing (i.e. the doorman at the desk in the entrance lobby is NOT check in!) The rooms are spacious and have all the conveniences that you may need or desire. The location in Lapa is centrally located in Rio, and perfect for me as I was traveling there for Carnival. Ana and Maria are the best and go out of their way to make you comfortable and that your needs are met on every level. I would highly recommend Lapa Checa to anyone for your trip to Rio.
