I contacted the hotel that our flight lands at 10.05 pm and we'd like to check-in at 11.00 pm to get the following message from the owner: "As mentioned on the Expedia's site and in my mail dated 25/2/17, the check-in is between 5 pm to 7.30 pm. We can accept one hour delay but so much. I suggest to change your flight or to change your booking." This is two days before our trip, there was no prior communication from the hotel to us whatsoever. I dread to think what would have happened if we arrived in Bordeaux in the middle of the night with no hotel to check in. Clearly, they don't want any business and have no idea of customer service. Run as far as you can from this hotel!

Two hour check-in window, very rude owner - ridiculous

A lovely guest house a few minutes from the Place Gambetta, a very friendly and well-advised host, highly recommended, and a very beautiful city with its pedestrian streets and smiling inhabitants.

All right, all right.

I spent three nights there and it was really nice, nice decoration, nice setting, nice neighborhood, I'm moving around regularly for work and it's a place I'd come back to because it feels good.

Very welcoming

First of all the peaceful side of the neighbourhood, although 5' walk from the Quinconces and Allées de Tourny. The welcome at the top, smiling, full of conviviality and good addresses (thanks for the Gascon Quarter). Room (la 3) overlooking the ruins of the Gallien palace, a real joy of sight and decoration. Sdb Top. impeccable literature.

Very nice services and superb reception

This is one of those times where the accommodations look beautiful in the photos but very different in the reality. This was not my first time in a B&B. My room looks outdated with a dirty carpet. The bathroom floor was not clean as other people mentioned. I checked out one day earlier even tough i knew i will not get a refund. The breakfast is very basic. what really strikes me is that they charge 11 euro in a B&B for a continental breakfast. I only had coffee and the owner insisted that i will pay 11 euros claiming it's my choice if to have the so called full breakfast or not.

Very Dissapointing

We stayed for three nights on a long weekend in Bordeaux. This is an elegant and charming place to stay and was perfect for our visit to the city.

L'Arene is located in a historical residential area just a short walk from the city centre. We had a view of the Palais Galien from our room's window. Our room was spacious, with a small chiller, great for keeping water cold. 

The room was stylish, in keeping with the historic character of the building, and decorated with care. We liked the neighbourhood location - it was quiet, but only a short walk to great restaurants, the park, and cafes. 

We were really impressed by Bordeaux - it's an excellent choice for a city break, and L'Arene was a great place to stay.



Elegant townhouse 

We visited early in the new year and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is unique in that it combines contemporary style with a classic and homely ambience. It is centrally located and served a quality breakfast of breads, cheeses and ham. Jean-Marie was a friendly and welcoming host with some invaluable tips on two fantastic local restaurants, the region of Bordeaux and all it had to offer as well as being an informative expert on the local wines. A hidden gem.

A hidden gem

It's a very well-managed house. The five bedrooms have different types but they're all nice and comfortable. The gentle owner and prodigy of advice. The excellent and abundant breakfasts. The location is a 10-minute walk from the very quiet downtown.

Comfort and Kindness

We stayed for three nights. The room was small by North American standards. There is a small terrace to read or grab a cup of coffee. Breakfast is served for 8 euros (coffee, croissant and yogurt). For the buffet formula (eggs, cereal, ham, cheese, orange juice, fruit) you have to add 3 euros. Our host offered us good advice for the neighborhood restaurants. We could easily walk to the old Bordeaux. The house was quiet and the beds comfortable. We would return without problems.

Warm welcome in a guest house near the intersection of the bridge

Nice guest room located 10-15 minutes' walk from the centre of Bordeaux, in a quiet area. The room is beautiful and tastefully decorated, well equipped (coat, safe, fan, boiler). The bathroom is nice with a spacious shower. The house is really nice and the breakfast very complete.
