I stayed in this hotel last August/September with my husband and 2 kids of 10 and 12 year old. The room in the top floor was very big and cosy. I am happy with the price and the location of the hotel.The room was on the top floor so if you stay there on August the hottest month of the year you might to reconsider as such a big room only had one AC. But if you stay there in cooler months I would be happy to be back in that room again.

When you need a family room

Hi Nam Hai 1 Hotel (now the Hanoi Style Hotel) is in a great location.  The staff are friendly, the room is comfortable, the buffet breakfast appealing and the setting quite compelling.  At $35 a night, it is a great deal!

Nice, inexpensive and well-located

After staying in various hotels in Vietnam, in Hanoi I found the best quality/price ratio. Twenty-five dollars breakfast included, cocktails in the room, air conditioning, hot tub. Absolutely quietly placed in the backpackers' alley, a few steps from restaurants, market, lake of Hanoi and the night meracto. The most pleasant thing I found was the staff of an embarrassing kindness.

Quiet, central, excellent rooms, very nice staff.

When we first arrived we had two rooms. One on the 4th floor and the other on the 7th floor. Rats or some kind of rodent kept us awake on the 7th floor.

The computers in the rooms did not work and one had images not suitable for children on the hard drive (left by a previous guest I assume).

Breakfast was very good although a little crowded.

Not all the front desk staff were particularly friendly. This may have been due to a lack of English language skills.

Could have been better

A hotel like many in the old city of Hanoi, very similar to the sunshine 2 hotel (see rating) In 10 minutes walk there are very many sights to reach (hoam kiem sea) rooms were air conditioned, everything was there, even television had DW TV (German wave) cleanliness you should not expect too much, you are in Vietnam yes in the tropics. Although Hanoi is a very noisy city in itself, our room was located so that you didn't get much. Breakfast buffet was available, moderate selection of a lot of European stuff, very fried. Staff was very generous.

In the heart of Hanoi

We stayed at the Nam Hai 1 for 4 nights then again for 2 nights after returning from Ha Long Bay.
The service was great and the hotel is well placed with all the action on your doorstep or just a short walk away.
The staff were very helpful and all spoke good English.
Room was good value for money and most importantly had a comfortable bed.
Breakfast was included in the room cost and while not over abundant with choice provided enough variety to get you going for the day.
Would recommend this hotel as good value for money and well positioned within the old quarter.

Great Service & Well Located

Our family checked out of here after 1 night.  We were originally put in a room on the 7th floor (lift to the 6th floor then stairs up)  it was up by a corrugated iron roofed room where they dried all the laundry.  The room was very tired with a view of the motorway.
We changed to a slightly better room on the 4th floor (room 402).  Again very tired decor with a bathroom vanity that had a thick layer of dust around the vase of plastic flowers.  The shower connection had come out of the bath, so most of the water flowed straight on to the floor.  The location is great on Ma May Street but for US$65 there are so many better, cleaner, quieter and well appointed hotels.
We checked out and stayed at the 4 month old Paradise 1 Hotel just around the corner in Hang Bac Street and it was fabulous.
Also due to no safe deposit box in the room our passports were stored in a drawer at the reception desk rather than the safe where we were assured they would be stored.

Tired and dirty

Nam Hai 1 is located in Ma May Street, which is right in the old town of Hanoi. It was the first hotel on our tour of Vietnam. We stayed in a superior room that was very spacious, tastefully furnished and clean. In addition to the double bed of dark wood, a table, a typical wooden bench and a cupboard, there was also a refrigerator, a TV and a PC (free Internet use) in the room. Although the hotel is located in the middle of the busy old town during the day, it is still very robust at night. The breakfast is simple, but perfectly equipped. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. The hotel does not have a typical wooden bench and cupboard. However, this is not even necessary, since the various literature galleries are built directly on the Mausoleum, the Mausoleum and the Library of the Sea, which are located near the Mausoleum of the Sea.

Nam Hai 1 is located very centrally in the old town of Hanoi, amidst a large selection of mobile kitchens built directly on the sidewalks and where you can eat excellent food. Also within easy reach are Hoan Kiem Lake, the Literature Temple, the HCM Mausoleum and the one-pillar pagoda. The Superior rooms are very spacious, tastefully furnished and clean. Equipment: refrigerator, TV and a PC (free Internet use). From the rooms on the upper floor (we had the luck to get one) you have a very fine view of the city. Although the hotel is located in the hustle and bustle of the old city, it is very quiet and we were not even sleeping in it.

Great location in the old town.

The former Anh Dao in the middle of the old town is lovingly and completely renovated, which you can also see from the increased prices. For $45, we had a small, pretty, clean and above all quiet (in this area the exception) DeluxeTwin in the back.
