Cold beer, good food at reasonable prices cook your own steak, the band played the classics and there was a good vibe in the pub, after a long day walking and exploring the outback was a great way to relax and recharge for the next day.

Great Pub in the middle of nowhere

We had a 2 bedroom apartment at Emu Walk.  Much larger and nicer than expected and very convenient to all things the resort complex has to offer.  Nice that it includes a washer and dryer, as well as a fridge and separate freezer to get water cold faster.  Perfect for a few days stay.  

Great Option

Great holiday atmosphere here. Live music, big pool, plenty of action. Staff were exceptionally helpful. When a child spilled their water bottle on the mattress, we were given another mattress. When a laptop was left behind staff went out of their way to find an economic way to send it 3500km.

Visitong from UK.  Our check in was good.  Hotel lovely. Our room was great. Tea and coffee making facilities. Tv and air con.  Toiletries supplied. Hairdryer. Towels for showering and for pool supplied. Iron and ironing board.  Comfy and clean. 
Great facilities.
Staff were happy, friendly and knowledgeable.
Bar area was excellent with live music every night. Pool tables and duke box.
Bbq area, fast food kiosk selling salads, pizzas burgers fish and chips.  a lovely restaurant avalabe for breakfasts and evening meal.

Excellent choice. Loved it all

Yulara which is the city/resort area closest to Uluru is in general quite expensive place to stay, so even though we felt we paid a lot for Outback Pioneer, there were much more expensive options available and had we booked earlier, we could most definitely have gotten more for what we paid.
The room was very basic and so were the food outlets and the service in general. Nothing really to complain about but again, for the amount paid the expectations were a lot higher. 

Just fine

When we booked this trip we didn't realise that climbing the rock was about to be stopped and therefore the whole Ayers Rock Resort was full to the brim. We may have rescheduled to another time. However still no excuse for the pre-booked bus transfer from the airport to be overbooked and us having to stand for the thankfully short journey to the lodge. Bit of a joke when the driver advises all the seated passengers that they must by law fasten their seat belts whilst the rest of us were left to hang around as best we could. Check in was fine except that at 10.00am 70 odd people were all told to come back at 3.00 pm to collect their keys as that was when their rooms would be ready. Baggage porter was very abrupt to the point of expecting us to know how to do his job with very little assistance being offered from "Mr I'm not here to help you know". Finally in the room and it was very clean considering the dusty conditions. The bar and restaurants were adequate if expensive which was to be expected. Very tiresome to be advised of the 1.3% credit card surcharge for every single payment, i think we are probably doing the resort a favour by not having to handle large amounts cash. All of the staff apart from the one porter were friendly and helpful, especially when a special meal request was made due to ill health of one of our party.

Outback by Name Outback by Nature

This is the lower end of the Ayers Rock accommodation 
Rooms are comfortable but nothing special. We were with a tour group so cannot day what value for money it provides 
Resturant was good for dinner and breakfast buffet 
There is a 10 minute walk to village square and a bus runs every 20 minutes. 
There are no views here 

Comfortable 

The room was nice and clean and ac worked well. The room was a bit far away but that was good exercise. Food and drink options were limited and expensive but that was to be expected as nothing is cheap here.

Good clean accommodation

The hotel is attached to dormitory-style lodging. There is nothing wrong with that but it does set the standard - basic. There is nothing wrong with a basic hotel, either. But for the price you could get 5 star accommodation anywhere else. I understand that it’s a remote area in peak season, but other hotels in the region don’t charge this much. On the positive side, the room was large and clean and the staff were friendly. 

The cheapest hotel at Yulara but still overpriced

During our first visit to Uluru and Kata Tjuta, we stayed at the Outback Pioneer Hotel. Our room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, the TV service was good, the Wi-fi service was great, and the hot water shower was good. However, we noticed a dirty toilet and that there was no safe to store our valuables. We don’t know if the safe was optional or not. We were here for three nights and we were quite comfortable with our room. This is a very good place to stay while vacationing in Ayers Rock.
