Some times life turns in your favour. This is a truly magnificent find providing the highest quality of service and accommodation.  If you need facts .. location 10/10, value 10/10, breakfast 10/10and hostess owner 11/10 ( I would offer marriage proposal if my lovely wife ever left me) .. This is an outstanding Pension / Guest house. Well done Sandra & team .. thank you ..

High quality - look no further

Warm and welcoming, this family-owned B&B was exactly what we'd hoped for. Gracious and very helpful host, satisfying breakfast buffet (try the Plum and Peach Cake, if you can), and comfortable room. It's a 4-minute walk to the #5 bus which takes you to the Old City as well as the train station. (At the train station, go downstairs to buy a 24-hour transit ticket for each day you're in Salzburg -- they were a good deal and very useful for our trips back and forth.)

The room was a little tight, but the beds were comfortable, there was a small desk and chair, a convenient refrigerator, and a standing fan (although we didn't use it, the cross-ventilation was fine).

Nonntaler Hauptstrasse can get noisy, so next time we will ask for a room facing the back. And there will be a next time!

A personal touch at a great location

We originally wanted to stay in the city to be close to everything without having to use our car. However, we knew driving in the city and parking would be difficult so we searched for a place nearby with parking and easy access to see the Lake District. The Pension Katrine was simply perfect for everything we wanted. First, the location is great. You can easily walk into the historic section of Salzburg. It takes less than 30 minutes and is a flat stroll through safe neighborhoods. There is also a bus stop just down the street which is extremely easy to access for a quick trip to the historic section. There is also a fabulous Italian restaurant down the street within a 5 minute walk. If you have a car, getting in and out of town to see the surrounding countryside is not difficult at all and is much easier than trying to get in and out of the historic center. From the Pension Katrine you don't have to negotiate crowds of tourists or narrow streets. Also, there are 3 FREE parking spots right inside the Pension Katrine courtyard. If those are taken, there is plenty of parking on the street. Second, the pension is spotless. Our room was large and overlooked the street. We were there in late October so the weather was cool and rainy. Had it been hot, the pension provides a floor fan to help cool the air. The snacks in the room are very reasonably priced. We normally don't eat the over-priced items provided by most hotels. But we did indulge at the Pension Katrine because the prices were inexpensive and the snacks were tempting. Third, breakfast was a lovely buffet with homemade cakes and an assortment of cheeses and meats. We found the hostess to be affable and efficient and available. We were thrilled to find this place and plan to stay again when we are in Salzburg. Location, cleanliness, value, and comfort...this place ticks all of the boxes for us.

Spotless and great location

Like many European hotels/hostels/pensions, the rooms can be quite dated but the difference at Pension Katrina was that it was spotless. Absolutely immaculate. The rooms were thoroughly cleaned each day. Linen was crisp, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. The host is who was from Salzburg herself, was very helpful, friendly and gave great recommendations on what to and see in Salzburg. She was always there to greet you everyday at breakfast, and just a genuinely nice person. Since we had a car the location was not a problem although you could easily catch a bus into town which was reliable and took 10 minutes. Otherwise a leisurely 25 stroll takes you into town with amazing scenery. There is only 3 car park spots at the pension but plenty of street parking. I would stay here again and also recommend to others. 

Spotless rooms and great hospitality 

Spent three nights here and had a great time. Sandra is a excellent host, full of valuable information. Modern, clean, spacious room. Good breakfast. Ideally located for the old town and the bus stop that will take you to a variety of locations. As we only booked for three nights did not get to see all the sights so will look forward to visiting again and staying in the Pension Katrin

Fantastic accommodation and location

For the price this small, pretty and comfortable pension (like a boutique hotel) offers so much! My room was only five steps up and at the back. It was completely quiet and private. The owner is welcoming and efficient and speaks excellent English and knows about nearly everything in the city and its environs. The room is small and snug but has a comfortable bed, a stocked fridge, wide-screen tv, lots of outlets, water boiler, closet, writing table and two chairs. The bath has a stall shower with hair dryer, hand soap and shampoo. The breakfast is sumptuous with freshly made muesli, a great selection of breads, eggs, cold cuts and cheeses and many other delicious things. The location is close to ideal—walking distance to the old city (about 15 minutes) and also located about 2 minutes from the bus that runs often and connects to everything. Also has a small parking area. The price is reasonable. So book early!

This Place Has it All!

I would like to thank the owner of this fantastic pension for the outstanding service. We had the chance to spend a week in this perfect pension again in the fantastic city of Salzburg and enjoy the warm hospitality, the wide range of sight-seeing opportunities close to the building, the rich buffet breakfast and the comfortable room. We would happily go back to this pension any time for holiday.

The best pension in Salzburg

This hotel is located a 15-20 minute walk or a 5 minute bus ride from the historical center.  The bus stop is located a minute or two from the hotel.  Staff was very helpful with recommendations and issued me a 2 day Salzburg card right on the spot.  Breakfast was filling and delicious.  The room and bathroom were very clean.  I would return again.

A very quiet and convenient option for a stay in Salzburg

We chose this pension for its great reviews and location as we had a car. We were so happy with our choice. The room was huge and so warm and pleasant. The breakfast area was gorgeous with a glass section at the front. The breakfast was vast and well presented. Eggs boiled to perfection. Service was fantastic. So helpful. There is a small car park. Fortunately we always had space for our car. There is a bus stop a few metres away and with the Salzburg card it is free. The Salzburg card Is fantastic value. We bought the 24 hour card and saved over 100€ easily for the 4 of us. You can buy it from the pension. You can also walk to the old town and fortress in about 15 mins so location is good (especially if you need parking). So happy with our choice.

Huge room, beautiful breakfast and good location for car

We spent 3 nights over Easter.  Sandra was a gracious host with helpful tips for touring.  The junior suite worked well for our family of 4.  Breakfast was delicious and even included special homemade treats on Easter morning!  It is just minutes from the #5 bus line and close to a small grocery for snacks & drinks.  A 20-25 minute walk takes you to the center of town.  I would stay again and definitely recommend it for those looking for a clean, comfortable stay close to town but without the noise & bustle
