Room is old and kind of dirty and so is the bathroom. Once again we were happy to have a travel sleeping bag with us as we werent so sure if the sheets are changed after each customer. But what is even way worse, is the noise. It's like there wouldn't be any door or window - had to use earplugs to get some sleep. The shower in our room was either completely cold or boiling hot - no chance to get any acceptable temperature for more than a few seconds (when changing from col to hot or vice versa). There are no bathing amenities except for very scratchy towels - there even wasn't enough toilet paper! The WiFi is also unstable and sometimes disappears completely. When I asked about WiFi connection the staff member just stated that he is already aware of that and that I should search for the energy and restart the router. From outside the hotel is in a rather boring area (few restaurants, no bars) even though Copacabana is close (basically the only positive thing). Free breakfast is offered and at least offered after asking, however one should not expect something special. After two nights we left and went to a better place.

Noisy, old, without functioning shower and unstable WiFi 

I like there. Good bed room and living room. And everybody able to stay safety. If you want to go to Copacavana beach, you can go there by walk just 5 minutes. So I really want to recommend there when you stay in Rio de Janeiro.

It was an alright place to stay. The guy who worked there was friendly and gave us a few tips on some places where to go.

Bit of a weird atmosphere in the communal area... more like being in somebody's living room. We sat upstairs on the roof on both of the nights. 

It was okay for us because it was our second stay in Rio during our trip - just so we could fly home from there. If you're looking to meet new people I'd stay somewhere else & if you're looking for a proper B&B... this isn't it.

Good location

I only stayed here one night. The hostel is a few blocks back from the beach, dorms were spacious enough and breakfast typical for a Brazilian hostel. 
Probably not the best place to meet people but fine for a night or two.

Good option if you want to stay in Copa without paying a fortune (paid R45 for a dorm bed).

I thought it was nothing special but also nothing major wrong with it.

Decent budget option for Copacabana

Rio Deal was our favorite stay in Rio. The host is very friendly and will gladly provide commentary on any football game that is on the TV. Also, he can tell you everything you need to know for your stay in Rio.

Our private room was quite satisfactory, even though the sliding door let through some noise. The bed was quite comfortable and the wifi and air conditioning worked as expected. The shower didn't really get warm but that seems to be common to Rio. 

Fruit and coffee are free and available the entire day from the common room. Breakfast was above average because of this and the exceptional quality of the kitchen. 

All in all a great place to stay!
