I've been living in Riverside for three years, it's been poorly cleaned, the manager's uninterested and snitchy-crazy, in the community kitchen, mice and rats are running around, and a cleaner likes to play important roles.

The guest's impression does not correspond to the hotel's offer

It's all old and painted, fine for one night, but no more, and from the outside, it looks like a ruin, all broken and unattended, but the rooms are clean.

It doesn't have to be...

The hotel's tips are not bad because the pizzeria he recommended was really not bad. The breakfast was suitable but nothing special.

This is a great little hotel, the prices are half what you pay in the centre of Basel, and there is so much included. There is a little kitchen, with all sorts of snacks, soft drinks etc. all free of charge. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we staopped for a beer in the reception are most evenings, and enjoyed chatting to the guy on reception (whose name I forget!) Free Wi-Fi worked perfectly. They appear to run a shuttle bus service as well, but we did not use this so I don't know the details.

Friendly and great value hotel

If you enjoy a private, modern, clean and peaceful setting, I highly recommend this hotel.  The price is very reasonable and the location is excellent.  My room was so quiet, all I could hear was the mountain stream splashing over giant rocks just outside my balcony.  I woke each morning to the sight of this lovely stream, surrounded by trees and sunshine streaming through the leaves.  (As I sat in bed reading or on the balcony, this was the view I enjoyed - magnificent!)  Aesch and Duggingen are minutes away on foot and there is a restaurant on site. There are well-groomed trails which can take you miles in any direction along the river (for example, north will take you directly to Basel).  Don't expect a hotel staff at your disposal 24 hours a day, most likely the reason the hotel is so economically priced.  The manager is extremely helpful and hospitable, as are other hotel staff.  Wireless internet is free as are pets and parking.  There is also a computer to use at your leisure (free of charge) in the main office.  I have travelled all over the world and I would without hesitation stay here again.
