I had read some of the negative reviews, but I was convinced by the positive reviews, and I can only say that it was terrible.

Absolutely not

We booked a double room with private bathroom. Easy check in, great location....upon arriving we noted the room could do with a lick of paint but otherwise tidy and great for the price! Had an issue with TV remote not working, called reception and sorted within 10 minutes! Fantastic breakfast and we would definitely stay again. If you're looking for 5 star then avoid BUT if you're looking for a great budget deal then I highly recommend.

Budget Bargain

This place seems to have improved since some of the more negative reviews were written. There was no sign of "quirky Phil" and I suspect it had received a coat of paint and maybe even new management. 

On the positive side, it was mostly clean, the bed was comfortable and there was a decent supply of tea/coffee etc. The location is excellent, within the town walls and yards from the castle and the Menai straits. Free parking is not difficult to find if you are willing to walk a bit. The staff I met at reception which is in a nearby pub were fine. Can't comment on the breakfast because I didn't have it. As I was just looking for simple accommodation for one night, I have seen worse.

On the more negative side, it has a bit of an unloved look and it is a pity the rooms don't even have a small sink. The walls are also very thin. I'm not sure running the place from another location really works and, even with a reasonable price,  I would consider looking elsewhere next time.

Reasonable but wouldn't really recommend

We spent a lovely 3 days at this location. The room was very clean and comfortable, the guest house is just a 2 minute walk from the town centre and is also very near the seashore.The breakfasts at the local Anglesey Arms were excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly.

Excellent Place To Stay

On arrival the B& B looked a bit tired. However, once you get past that the place is clean, beds comfortable, staff really friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. Superb location within the city walls and the price was really good. No dedicated parking but there is some on street parking outside. More on street parking around the corner in Market St. Line of spaces marked ‘Doctor’, some worn away, no longer allocated for doctors. WiFi worked well.

Good value, fantastic location & good breakfast

What can I say, after reading the reviews me and my mate was abit dubious about what we was going to enter. 

The previous bad comments painted the picture perfect. We knocked the door to the hotel and Phil came from under a stairway to his home where he lived below. He came out yelling what dya want??? I said weve got a room for the night, Phil yelled no you haven't. 

I was thinking thank god I've got the wrong place but low and behold he turned round and said come on in.

He said your staying for 2 nights? we said no 2 rooms for 1 night. He then tried to charge us again even though our company had already paid.

On entering the rooms we found faeces splattered up the back of the toilets which was down the corridor with the showers, loads of toothpaste over the towels in the room, piled high dust on every ledge, what looked like pubic hairs in the bed, coffee in the bottom of the mugs. 

We showed Phil around to show him why we didnt end up staying there and tbf he didnt really argue, he tried to switch the light on above the sink so he could see the dust we was shining our torches on and that didnt even work. Was quite comical tbf and at the same time a big relief to be leaving the place.

I dont think I could of stomached watching him eating my left over breakfast.
I'm almost dead certain he would phil himself off left over breakfasts. 
When asking about an earlier breakfast as we need to be on site early he replied I can try.

£36 a night for a smelly dusty mouldy room. Would of rather slept in the van. 

How and why he has a TripAdvisor sticker in the window is beyond me I can only imagine the date on the sticker was 1806 when the place was 1st built.

Guesthouse Paradiso

Really enjoyed my stay here, the room was clean, cosy and the bed was comfortable. A gentleman named Phil greeted us on arrival and made us feel welcome and at home straight away. Breakfast was included in the price which was enjoyable and filling, on the whole a bargain and will look to stay here again if travelling up this way again :) 

Excellent value for money

After reading the reviews we wondered what we had let ourselves in for.
I'd run in to ask about parking and was left stood for nearly 10 minutes whilst Phil finished his social conversation on the phone. I'm not one for bad mouthing someone for being a little 'out there' which Phil certainly is, everyone is unique,... until we went to check out and caught him in the dining room finishing everyone's leftover breakfast!!!!! That's just plain strange.

The room itself was pretty grim. Mould and tired looking and I think I'd have got wetter quicker stood in the rain rather than the shower. 

The window wouldn't close as the handle was half snapped off. The seagulls woke us at 4am made worse by the fact we couldn't shut the window to drown them out a little. 

I guess you get what you pay for, the location is excellent and for 1 night stay it was ok but I certainly wouldn't go back!

Interesting stay!

We rented the apartment for four people.

Here are all the bad things:
-The towels smelled weird 
-The bathroom rugs were dirty
-The place was overall unclean
-Way to little toilet paper
-The parking area outside was disgusting. It was more like a dump. There were lots of garbage and gulls and it smelled disgusting
-The service was not satisfying. The staff claimed the we hadn’t prepaid even though we had. We had to work to prove it. They had no clue what they were doing. The man welcoming us made me slightly uncomfortable. 
-Very difficult to park the car because of the tiny space
-Dark narrow road if you walk to the private entrance

But the good things were:
-Quiet neighbourhood (except for the gulls)
-Close to pubs and restaurants
-The kitchen was nice and had everything you need
-Good WiFi
-Comfortable and clean sofas

I would look for other options. This place is habitable but you will probably be more satisfied with something else.

I wouldn’t recommend this place, dirty outdated and one male staff called Phil didn’t have a clue or any customer service skills. The shower was stinking and dribbled water out. 

It’s cheap and I regret booking.
