Booked 2 rooms & both showers had hair in them. Our toilet cystern had a huge crack across it & the cold water tap was constantly running. Our rooms apparently had been vacant the previous evening but there was water still against the glass of the shower. Neither my husband nor myself had a shower in the morning. The only good thing about our room was that the bed linen was clean & when we did get to sleep, slept well.

Filthy bathrooms

A large group of us stayed at the antrobus hotel, we traveled a long way for a family wedding in the area. I was gutted when the bus pulled up outside the hotel to drop us off.  It was dirty, smelly and in serious need of a refurbishment. I felt itchy as if I was being bitten all night in the very uncomfortable bed. Only positives weee the sheets were clean and it was in a good location. I have never been happier  to check out of somewhere. Avoid at all costs. 

Disgusting!!

Good stopover point en route west to Devon. Town centre location.  Easy to walk to restaurants etc and v convenient for Stonehenge.  You can walk there under two miles.  Decor has certainly seen better days but staff are friendly and helpful although clearly v stretched.  Dog friendly to the point of abundance; excellent secure grounds for exercising dogs.  Lack of on-site parking a bit of an issue.  We stayed in the Beatles Suite - comfortable ++ bed.  Needed a good spring clean and shame windows didn't open.  Good value for money.

A Hard Day's Night

Okay, so I get it’s an old building and things can tend to appear a little shabby. That I can accept, and my husband and I don’t have particularly high expectations when it comes to staying over somewhere for 1 night.  What is not acceptable is not bothering to clean the rooms, a manager that clearly doesn’t give a s**t and massive health and safety risks.  Attached are pictures of the aforementioned cleaning issues. I don’t think much explanation is needed… #pubesexcrementfest  It was a particularly warm night but didn’t have the luxury of opening our window further than a few inches which was held up by a lump of wood. Nobody was around to report our issues to so it ended up in the hands of the poor barmaid. Who didn’t have a clue what to do with the information. After chasing numerous times we were told she was unable to contact her manager. So why was this our problem? Resolution was explaining how to prop open the window. This was done in a comedy style as shown in the pictures. No cleaning of the room was even offered or addressed. Clearly from later reading other reviews, the manager is aware of these issues and chooses to do absolutely nothing about them. Heavily relying on inexperienced staff that choose to mop the entrance floor at checkout with no safety sign in place. Bit of an issue for my 85 year old father in-law…and a law suit waiting to happen.  Oh, and no remote in room, however found out later that a friend in another room had 2. Marvellous. Bit greedy if u ask me… Without doubt the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Avoid!

Grim!

This is a review of the bar and downstairs facilities. 2 years ago when the old management were running things, it used to be slightly expensive, but quiet, pleasant and a nice place to go for a drink. Unfortunately times changed and the place went downhill. Those that live locally know this place and it's generally agree that the bar is now one of the worst in Amesbury. Why is this? Draught beers need keeping properly, the lines cleaning and basic care and maintenance any proper bar tender understands. As they don't have anyone employed to run the bar, just spare staff from the restaurant, it means that basic maintenance isn't done. So it's home officially to the worst pint in Amesbury, and bare in mind we have a Weatherspoon, so they really went all out to be so bad.

It's also worthy of note that on probably the busiest day of the year - Remembrance Day they don't even bother putting extra staff to cover the influx of people, I think they're oblivious to national traditions and local goings on. The toilets always have a bit of a weird smell. The result is a run down place that trades on past glories, while ignoring the state of the building. certainly wouldn't recommend anyone stay here unless every other place (including the Travelodge which is a fleapit) is full.

Eww, just no

This hotel is in dire need of a refurb, my experience was a weekend stay. My room was ok clean bedding etc and a new mattress. I was disappointed that the light in the bathroom was not working I reported it twice during my stay. Made shaving interesting by the light on my phone. The toilet holder was not in situ. My main complaint was the strong smell of drains emanating not only in my room but throughout the hotel🫢 candles have been used in reception to mask this no doubt. 
There was no staff available to provide a drink for residents after midnight as they closed the bar and we were told to follow the staff next door to the Kings Arms!!
Breakfast was ok even though once the cooked items were out they stayed in un heated serving though covered containers.
Sunday morning in the breakfast room and following a function the previous day it was not nice to see the left over buffet still in situ!
I would. It stay here again unless there has been a massive refurb.

Avoid unless desperate.

We have now been to the Antrobus Hotel on the last two occasions we have been verbally abused by the same  drunk man in the bar and wanted to pick a fight with us we don’t see why the staff or management put up with this but he seems to be a regular this is why we are seriously considering not using the Bar area ever again which will spoil the whole experience of using the best restaurant (Siam Smile) in the area

Bar area abuse

Dirty, unkempt, unstaffed, bed was awful, tv remote didn't work. 
The curtains didn't close, the room smelt funny. The bed had no protection on it just the mattress and I sheet, it was so uncomfortable.
When we came back from dinner there was no staff to tell us anything, I looked everywhere for a member staff, I looked everywhere for some batteries.
The hotel is dirty and run down. 
We paid for a breakfast which we didn't get, no staff anywhere, no milk for our tea, no juice, no hot breakfast.
We have left and are now eating in a cafe around the corner. 
We will not return.

Awful

Nicely decorated room, friendly reception, nice breakfast,  we found the room had a strong smell of disinfectant but was comfortable, large bed.
The shower took a long time to heat up, we were given toiletries.
Breakfast was a help yourself to cereal and toast and then a chosen hot option.

Comfy

Requires a deep clean and fire safety checks.  We were even upgraded to this room so I dread to think how the other room was!  Windows also dirty, and mirrors.  Freezing when arrived, had to switch on both heaters.  Considering we only paid 20 pounds less than the previous 5 star property in Windsor the day before, I wouldn’t give this hotel room away for free, it wasn’t suitable for anyone to stay in!
