We stayed here on our own and with a tour as well.  The buffet dinners were expensive but had superb food and service.  Everyone was lovely to work with and I was pleased with the quality and cleanliness of the room.  The decorations in the hotel itself respect the esthetic with which it was built and are treasures. The fresh flowers in the main rotunda are so spectacular people come in off the street to take pictures and just to see it!  It also changes weekly in subtle and lovely ways. So inventive. The location of the hotel is the most perfect for sightseeing you could imagine in Shanghai, and we loved each of the restaurants within the building that we had a chance to dine in.  

This is a pure pleasure to stay in....a gorgeous hotel and impeccable service, with a smile!

i have known the Peace Hotel - 和平饭店, since i was young from all the Chinese movies that i watched. Besides the Great Wall, it's the next best thing that i know of China. i have to see it.

The South building became the Swatch Art Peace Hotel after it went through an extensive restoration for 2010 World Expo. The hotel had been redesigned for the artist residency programme, in which artists from around the world are being invited to live and work here on two dedicated floors of communal space.

After i had managed to find the room door that was hidden amongst the real doors, i was asked to give it a push. And i found myself in Joyful Room where i had 40sqm of beautifully furnished space to myself. i could stay in here forever and miss Shanghai entirely. High ceilings always make a room look so spectacular. i laid in bed and just look at the beautiful wood that runs from floor to ceiling, making the room even more dramatic. The big window panes allow lots of natural light to flood the room to light up all the details in the room. A large piece of glass separates the living space from the shower area. Such a sophisticated touch. i really lie in bed for a long time.

You will like to just lose yourself for a couple of hours in the hotel to explore all corners like i did. i didn't get to see exactly how the artist studios are like, but the hallways and communal areas are enough to take my breath away. The museum with all the works by the artists-in-resident is an exhibition of all different media and expressions, which is something that i like.

The Swatch Art Peace Hotel, a definite wowww to all designer chic-sters out there. It's a place beyond word or even photo description. You would have to be here to live it and breathe it.

Living it out from the movies..

The occupied rooms (two when we were there) are dirty and decayed Breakfast is served only in the room is tiny without a kitchen they can only serve at all ready without warming it up. Only the poorly furnished and dirty terrace gives a (obstructed) view of the Bund. A sad building poorly held at the exorbitant price then opposite the Fermont Peace hotel is gorgeous; we moved there for the rest of our stay.
