The hotel matches the town - quaint, quiet and comfortable. Very good location, near the main square. Despite language barriers, the reception staff managed to answer all our questions very well. Bed was very large and comfortable, we booked a room with its own bathroom (I recommend this). No problems with check-in, staff waited for us despite train delays we had. Great pizzeria a few doors down too.

Lovely and Quaint

They are obviously shooting for something there but it's the details that help make the general impression.
After we walked in, it looked really nice, but soon we discovered a lot of things that were not working. No lift, while rooms and reception are upstairs. Horrible light, consisting of small, pale bulbs that really don't give any light as they are distributed very scarcely and there is no option to switch that off and have a normal light which makes it extremely annoying (and dangerous) when dragging your bags through the stairs, or trying to open your room's door, or just being in the corridor since it had uneven carpeting that made me trip a couple of times. The lights in the room were ok however the heating was somewhat problematic and it required the staff to come over to our room a few times to fiddle with it and thankfully in the end it worked (we were there in winter). Another problem was the bathroom, it was a shared one (!) in a supposedly 4 star hotel! No idea who gave them those 4 stars they claim to have but it's definitely a joke!!! I've stayed in hostels that were better than this. So, back to the bathroom, shared one, smelling awfully and as the main attraction the doorknob was broken...It kept falling off and instead of getting repaired, it only got put back into place again. It was literally not possible to close the door without getting trapped inside with a knob that fell completely out of the door. It did not get fixed during our 4 day stay there. The knob of the closet door in our room was broken as well. We were also asked to pay up front for our stay and they only take cash as there's no terminal for cards payment. 
As for positives, since there were a rare few, the room was of a good size and the first impression of it was quite good, nice looking with a small relaxing area, decorated with an orchid and offering us two bottles of juice, lots of closet space for your stuff. Bathroom was spacious too. Location is good too, some 7-10 minute leisurely walk to the old town. The staff was friendly but that's a small consolation overall.
This hotel had a potential to be really nice but it was a fail.
