I chose the Pemberton Hotel because it's ideally located on the way to Calgary. The rooms are small and equipped with everything you need, such as a flat TV, free Wi-Fi and a refrigerator. Unfortunately, it's very loud and you can hear the voices not only from the rooms, but also from outside. The pub on the ground floor is currently closed and only the liquor store next to the lobby is open.

Ideal for travel

I stayed twice for one night each time. Rooms are worn but spotless and staff are helpful. Walls are paper thin and you will hear everything your neighbors do or say. EVERYTHING. I was not at the pub end. 

Clean and comfortable but LOUD

Went here for lunch, without a booking, and it was excellent. Huge food servings, outstanding service, and friendly staff. Would recommend this venue. Wine and beer list is extensive. Tables inside and outside.

What a Gem!

So my friends and me are on a roadtrip and booked this hotel for our first night. We arrive and it all seems pretty nice, but when I wanted to check in the guy said no you are already checked in. I was like eh no I’m not. He then found out he checked the wrong guest into our room, he didn’t check his ID (good enough). Total BS story to begin with but he gave us another room. More about this later. 

We are 3 girls and he put us in a room next to a parking lot with only one bed!!! Mistake nr. 2 but no big deal. We go back again and ask for another room with 3 beds. He now got the beds right but it was still next to a parking lot and a bar which just didn’t feel safe to us, 3 young girls. 

We decided that by the way we were treated and the room that we did not wanna stay here overnight. We went back to the lobby and asked for a refund. He didn’t wanna give us one because he wasn’t allowed to. He ended up calling his manager (in Russian, very polite) and the answer was no. We then called booking.com cause this was a serious situation and we did not feel comfortable at all. While my friend was calling booking I asked the guy about how this whole situation could have happened with him not checking ID’s.

 He said he did not have any check ins left but how is that possible if you mixed up 2 reservations. He then said it was a walk in but there still should have been an open checkin. Again, total BS story. I was/am super upset with this because all of my personal information could have been given to the wrong person. He was laughing about it and I did not felt taken serious.

At one point I was explaining how I am super uncomfortable with the whole situation and he just interrupted me. So I said well sorry I’m talking to you right now. He then walked away. Great service, thanks.

We ended up taking the 30% discount and booked a suite in Blackcomb suites in Whistler (best place ever, go here!!!!!)

So we still spend 70 dollars on a room we didn’t use because the guy at the front desk didn’t check someone’s ID. I totally understand mistakes happen and we are all humans and that just happens sometimes but it was just the way they handled things. They did offer us a voucher for a free night but we didn’t wanna stay in this place at all. He said we can’t give you a discount because it’s covid times, we need it too. Well then get your ... together and offer some better customer service. It wasn’t even about the money anymore at the end but it was just the way the guy treated us and the whole situation with the mixed ID’s. He should have handled it differently and things would have been fine. I understand that he is just the messenger but interrupting people and walking away from them when they speak to you is just not justifiable.

End of story, we’re having the best time ever at blackcomb suites: best $70 dollars (extra) ever spend!!!

Worst service ever

Admittedly $110 for a room isn’t a lot, but the photos online are the nice version of the very tiny and time worn room we got.   Hard bed!  Thin doors meant a fair bit of hallway noise as people came and went.   Request the quiet non-pub side.   It’s a decent solution in a pinch if you are not fussy, but at base price of 186 for an actual queen bed (ours was a double in a queen room???), I would stay at the infinitely more luxurious Lodge just down the road.

Pemberton Hotel - Clean uncomfortable basics for mid price

Stopped here for dinner and ended up staying the night. 
Dinner was great
Had the spring rolls, Italian pizza and roast lamb. 
Pizza was delicious, crispy base 
Roast lamb was a 10/10, meat was so tender and melt in your mouth, didn’t need a knife. Came with roast potatoes, pumpkin, cauliflower, peas, corn, gravy and mint sauce! 
The hotel price matched online sites for a bigger room so we stayed 
Rooms are basic but clean
Reasonably sized 
Good sized bathroom 
Bed wasn’t the most comfortable, probably could do with upgrading 
Road noise was noticeable in the morning 

Cheap and cheerful 

Liked · You can't beat the location (if you overlook that they're above a loud bar and that anyone can come in the hotel at night) or the value. The room appeared clean.

Disliked · We were warned via an email after booking that the bar below would play music. On Friday night, the noise level was tolerable. Any music quieted down around 10 pm. On Saturday, however, the music was at nightclub level. It lasted until 2 am. As impossible as it was to sleep through, the next round of noise was worse. When kicked out the bar, many people proceeded to party in the hotel's reception room - until 4 am! There is no night watch, and no one from the hotel intervened (I don't think they even know what's up.). When I spoke to the "manager" the next morning, he had no clue. I pointed out the beer cans etc. He couldn't even muster a sorry. It's a shame. This hotel could be a great affordable stay in the cool little farm town of Pemberton. Instead, let the buyer beware. (Note, after booking, the hotel said they would move us to a quieter room, if one was available. We were informed no rooms were available when we requested one.)

As long as the bar below is quiet (and doesn't spill over to the lobby), then this an affordable option in Pemberton.

The stay was ok, but after calling the hotel the next morning after coffee, and the frenchy was rude and hung up, it was a perplexing as the issue seems very clear... 45 bucks for a pet charge is about double the industry rate. Hey if Pemberton hotel would like to right this wrong, that would be appreciated...

Double Charger's

For a one night stop-over it's acceptable. However, rooms offer almost no comfort and quality of beds is not good. Value for price relationship is poor. Just one advantage: The receptionist changed our room from the noisy bar location to a room at the other end of the building.

Clean room.good size bathroom.excellent customer service. Part of the hotel so easy to get to dining room. Food was good but a little bit high in price. Accom price was ok.
