It's a coincidence, but perfectly well done. It's led by a very friendly couple. I was recommended for this accommodation on my trip through Bordeaux.

Familiar and incredibly good

Marie-Laure and Jean-Philippe welcomed us in a wonderful way. They were kind and attentive. The ideal setting included a magnificent building with each room decorated with special care.

What a wonderful discovery

We had an absolutely delightful experience with the hosts at Chateau Baudou.  They treated us with exceptional kindness, welcome and wonderful hospitality.  The room we had was beautifully decorated with high quality antiques and the atmosphere was delightful. Cannot recommend this place highly enough, you will enjoy your stay immensely.

Exceptional hospitality and kindness

We received a very warm welcome from Marie-Christine and discovered a place with high-quality services. Everything is made for a good stay, the hostel is large, well equipped and the bed is comfortable. Everything is made for rest and the holidays are on top! The swimming pool is private and beautiful, there are trunks and some bath accessories. The terrace and barbecue are also very appreciated. In short, a perfect family place in this period of covid to be away from the crowd but also in quick access to places of interest (Libourne, Saint Emilien and the wineries as well as Bordeaux) we recommend!

A wonderful setting, very comfortable XXL rooms, a great breakfast, a fantastic welcome, you feel like you're arriving with your family on holiday.

The life of a castle!

We are a family of 4 (2 adults/2 child) travelling to this area for the last 12 years and using various Gites twice a year for the last 6 years.
This review is for the separate Gite accommodation NOT the in-house B&B in which we stayed for 2 weeks. 
I found Le Baudou through recommendations by the Office du Tourisme and relatives living in the area.
The Gite is made up of 3 double bedrooms (1 Double bed, 1 2 singles, 1 double and single) one en-suite with shower and toilet, a separate bathroom with bath and separate toilet. It can accommodate up to 7 people with room sharing. A very large living area with a dining table for 6, 2 double leather sofas, a kitchen island with all the required appliances. Its very well stocked in crockery, glasses, pans, electrical appliances etc.... and you can have bed linen and towels on request with a fee. Be aware that the Gite is only accessible via a staircase and would be difficult of access if not impossible to someone with impaired mobility. You have your very own garage, with washing/drying  appliances, a lovely secluded garden with patio/BBQ and a very large heated indoor swimming pool for the sole use of the gite guests. You have free wifi which works reasonably well. (lets not forget that you are in the country side).
 Le Baudou is easily accessible by road (D10 between Coutras and Guitres) or by rail (Coutras). If you enjoy walking/cycling there are several trek paths which will either take you to Coutras town centre (2km) or Guitres (5km). There is not much in the scope of wining/dining or nightlife in Coutras/Guitres but you are only 25 minutes away by road to Libourne and the same to St Emilion. There are 3 supermarkets within a 3km radius (Intermarche, Leclerc, Lidl)
Le Baudou is no different than many gite/B&B we have had the pleasure to stay in England and France, in which that they do not offer Credit Card payment. This is not after all, a Marriott or Hilton, this is a family home where the host live. Payment however is easily arranged through international SWIFT transfer (or similar) which is available worldwide on request from your bank. (I'm very well placed to know, I work for a bank).
The atmosphere at Le Baudou is one of peace, relaxation and tranquility. It is a very typical bourgeois country house which your host Marie-Christine will be happy to tell you about its history. She kindly shared with us ultra fresh eggs from her chicken coop and contributed to our apero on the patio with her home made Vin de Noix.
We have found at Le Baudou everything we could possibly hope for and more. For 2 weeks it was our paradise on earth. We will return next summer (2018).

Eden on Earth - Gite review (NOT B&B)

An exceptional welcome in an idyllic setting and a great cleanliness, a gourmet, humm... extra breakfast! Thank you to Christine and Philippe for their efficiency and kindness.

A haven of peace and gentleness!

Everything is made to please us. Breakfast with its good homemade cake and homemade jams. The spacious and decorated old-fashioned rooms. We smell the history of the place. The owners are lovely. A very good place to explore the vineyard.

Excellent hospitality and a really pleasant setting

For some reason, I really wanted to stay here, so I put some effort into it, but I also HAD to put some effort into it.  Reserving a room (Magnolia) from across the Atlantic proved difficult, because there weren't any convenient ways to make the partial payment — no credit cards (or so we were told).   Everywhere else we stayed, we were able to reserve our room using a credit card (even if we didn't end up Paying with it), but not here.  Going through the hoops to make the payment (I don't mind paying part up front — I think that's fair) became part of the adventure of our trip, but I doubt I'd want to do it again.  Philippe was quite helpful and patient in sorting things out.

Once that was done, directions for getting to Le Baudou were clear and easy to follow, which isn't always the case for rural locations.  We actually ended up coming from a different direction than we'd planned, but it was still no trouble.

Our welcome was friendly, and our room was lovely.  Marie-Christine even helped carry some of our luggage up to the second floor (American-style — we have floors even on the ground level), which made things easier after a fun but winding drive from Brittany the day we arrived.

Marie-Christine's English is perhaps not even as good as my French, but she does live in France, after all.  Nonetheless, she was quite helpful and persistent in helping us to find somewhere good to eat the several nights we stayed at Le Baudou, even when she was reduced to spelling so I could understand!  She also made a number of phone calls to restaurants for us.  EACH of her suggestions for restaurants that we tried (I think I've reviewed them all now) was in the Very Good to Excellent range.  

Breakfast in the morning was both good and varied, but still evidently local.

Philippe's English was good, but he was only there at the same time we were at breakfast.  His suggestions and advice about things to do and places to go were helpful and mostly quite clear (it sometimes made more sense once we got to the place he suggested).  So when you see him, make use of that facility.  The only time there was a problem was when someone at the other end decided to be un-helpful; it was our one real experience of that in France.

The grounds are lovely, so that I was tempted to wander about them more — if there wasn't so much else to see nearby.  Our room was lovely and comfortable, and I think there was a TV in it, though I can't recall watching much TV in France.  (I see more French TV at home, certainly.)  WIFI in the room was anemic (as isn't too unusual), but it was strong in the library.  A stronger signal in the room would be better (and wouldn't be too difficult), but this situation worked well enough.  

Housekeeping was thorough and efficient, and we had no problems with the plumbing, though I would have preferred a room with a shower had one been available.

The one thing I might complain about is the bed, or rather the plastic sheet on the bed.   It caused me to get too hot and not be able to sleep until I came up with a workaround.  Other people who aren't as warm as I am (e.g., my wife) mightn't notice.  Having had arguments in the past about this subject with other innkeepers in a language I understand, I didn't care to adventure one in a language I'm not so good at, so I didn't bring it up then and there.

So the first thing I mentioned here (a little) and the last (mostly) are the causes for me giving only four stars instead of five, but if those aren't a problem for you, stay here; you'll like it!  I would enjoy coming back.

Very Good, but a few changes would make it Even Better …

Last December we spent three nights in this wonderful place, the château, the baudouin is a large house, our room was very large and bright.
