The restaurant is now called "La Suite".  

The menu was short, the food was very good, the room was sunny and the staff were charming!  

There's also a comfortable bar and easy parking and it looks as if there will be a sunny terrace for eating outside eventually.

The restaurant at le Relais is under new management

We visited for two nights Fri - Sun. On arrival at 5 pm the owner was just opening up. The rooms were facing the river on the first floor. The staircase was quite steep. The rooms were clean and ours was very spacious the other one was smaller but big enough. You have to be aware of the beams in the rooms and lower ceilings but otherwise no real issues. The beds were not made during our stay nor the bins emptied which we found strange. Also the bar and restaurant were not open on the Friday but we ate in a lovely restaurant just in the next town so no real problem for us. Very quite except for the cockrel over the road!! Would use again for a couple of nights but not ideal for a long stay if beds not made and bins emptied or towels changed. 

Weekend Break

Abundance of toiletries. Extra blankets and pillows if needed. Breakfast was perfect. Coffee tasted good, bread was delicious. Beer, jam to your liking. Very welcoming boss.

A spacious, elegant room, flawless and very soft sheets, total silence, separate toilet and bathroom.

We visited this inn for the first time a little while ago, having found it on a website. It is situated in a fairly quiet village (Estree) which is situated  reasonably close to Montreuil.

The rooms "with river view" are set in the roof, and access is by (steep) stairs only.  All very clean, but you need to watch your head in the rooms as the cross beams are situated actually in the rooms.  Separate shower room and toilet at each end of the bedroom.  View from the window does, yes, show the river, but on the other side of the road, so not entirely an amazing view.

Bed comfortable and room not too noisy at night.  However, downside is that the access stairs are very steep (although there is one handrail) and the access step into the shower is enormously high (roughly 30cm) so this is probably not suitable for any disabled person. There may be other rooms on the ground floor, but you need to check.

To our amazement, the beds remained unmade during the whole of our three day sojourn, which has never been the case before in France.

At the time we visited the brasserie and bar were shut, so we had to eat elsewhere. This necessitated a taxi into Montreuil on two evenings.  I cannot praise the local taxi firm enough;  Christophe Desenclos from Montreuil taxis was an absolute gem, showed us a bar for pre-meal drinks and then took us to restaurant and back to base on two evenings. He can be found at Allo Taxi Montreuil Sur Mer on 06.69.38.01.00 and I cannot recommend him highly enough;  spot on time for each journey and never let us down at all.

Breakfast was adequate and fresh, but just the typical French fare of bread, cheese, ham (NOT the air-dried kind which I love, but more spam) apple jam, fruit jam, croissants etc. with orange juice and fresh coffee, teabags available with hot water.

So clearly I am unable to recommend either eats or drinks at Relais Estree.  Certainly, the rooms we had were not disabled-friendly.  I could probably give a more balanced and comprehensive review had we stayed in the height of summer when the eating and drinking facilities are (hopefully) open, but the above is how we found it.  It was difficult to decide whether this inn is "coming" or "going" as it seemed to be rather in a state of flux one way or another.  Maybe other reviewers know more than me?

Not quite what we expected.

Stayed for one night at this lovely hotel, room was simple and clean. Had dinner in the Brasserie which was absolutely delicious, Estrée is a pretty village not far from Etaples and Le Touquet, would definitely recommend this place

Home warm rooms with top clean nickel and impeccable breakfast. we had spent a night between pots for the enduropal towel reserved 3 bedrooms and frankly quality price nothing to say. thanks and to next year surely......

Very well located, the rooms overlook the river and are very tastefully decorated, they are spacious.

Very quiet school

This was a stopover on our way to Calais and was pleasant enough. Our room was clean, but fairly basic. We ate in the restaurant and our meal was delicious. This is a good place to stopover for the night, but ring ahead because the restaurant closes early if there are no reservations. 

Pleasant

We stayed here on our way to Calais after a holiday in the south. A restaurant and brasserie with 'chambre d'hôtes' rooms upstairs in an attractive village a bit off the beaten track. Make sure you advise the owner of your expected time of arrival if you are likely to arrive before evening. The booking form said check-in time was from 2pm, we arrived at 3pm and the place was deserted. After waiting then contacting the owner he arrived to let us in about 4.30pm. To be fair, he had in fact sent an email a day or so earlier asking about our time of arrival, but we did not receive it as the previous hotel's wi-fi was not working. 

Rooms are spacious and clean, one chair provided -could have done with an extra one. It was very quiet, just one other couple staying there, and the restaurant was closed (it was a Tuesday). However, there was a bar/brasserie which the owner opened up- it looked like we were the only customers that evening and it shut after we left. The food was good, my husband said his steak was excellent. The wi-fi worked intermittently, when no-one else was using it. The area looked attractive and worth a longer stay, rural France with gardens and abbeys to visit, and Montreuil-sur-Mer was recommended to us

Pleasant overnight stop in rural location

The owner was very friendly despite our late arrival. He also allowed us to bring our bikes inside for more security. Our (very spacious) room was beautifully decorated in the air of time and we feel that this was done with care. Our bed was comfortable (and long enough for my husband who is very tall). The bathroom was modern and spacious. Everything was impeccably clean! The WIFI connection worked well. We had breakfast in a small room next to the bar: butter, growing, butter, tart, jam, yogurt, a little charcutery and cheese. No exception but very good to start the day.
