Mercure Hotel Berlin City 

What a great location and fabulous hotel. Location: a fifteen minute walk along a straight road (Invalidenstraße) from Hauptbahnof, or you can take the tram which stops directly outside the hotel, or the U-Bahn, the entrance to which is just around the corner. There’s probably also a bus, but we didn’t use that. From here you can easily navigate the city. Accommodation: the rooms are moderately sized but very clean with all the amenities you need for a short stay. The beds were very comfy. Staff: very helpful, polite and friendly. A big shout out to the lady on front of house at breakfast who was especially friendly and chatty. She allowed me to use my German , which I don’t always get the opportunity to do as everyone speaks such good English! Breakfast: a lovely choice, wonderful bread and some different items that we don’t have in the UK which were delicious and great to try. If we come back to Berlin, I’d definitely choose this hotel. And I recommend it to anyone wanting to stay somewhere that won’t break the bank, is in a central location close to bars, restaurants, public transport links and so on.
