The Mandala Berlin, a Member of Design Hotel

We've just returned from a 3 night trip to the Mandala to explore Berlin and the Christmas markets. This hotel was fantastic!! We checked in late without any issues and stayed in an executive suite on the 10th floor facing the courtyard. Although there wasn't much view, it was bright and airy as we were so high up. The room was immaculate, loads of space, loads of storage space and a huge bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The pillows were soft feather filling which were perfect for us but might be worth requesting a firmer pillow if you prefer that. We didn't hear anybody or anything when in the room, it was so quiet and away from the elevator. The room was just amazing and we were very satisfied considering the price. The only 'negative' - if you can even call it that, was the room was too hot. As there are no individual heating controls, we had to sleep with the sliding door open which was fine as we were 10 floors up and I preferred the fresh air but others might not like that - especially on a lower floor room. Reception was great. They brought up spare toiletries when requested, and a brand new hairdryer when ours seemed to overheat. They also loaned us an adapter - which we forgot to pack. Just great service. Our best part though was Qui Bar - amazing service and wonderful ambiance. A huge shout out to Conrad (probably the best maitre'd in Berlin) and Umar, a great bartender who served up just what I wanted without it being on the menu. Having spent 2 evenings in the bar, we can honestly say, Conrad made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He took the time to talk to us, get to know us and provided an impeccable service. Conrad is an asset to the Mandala and I hope the hierarchy know how valuable he is. Overall, amazing hotel in the best location - very central... we love our 5 star hotels and at a fraction of the cost compared to others in Berlin, I was a little sceptical, but absolutely overjoyed we paid almost half the cost of other high end hotels but received the same standard and service we were expecting. Thank you Mandala... you made our trip... we'll definitely be back - Lesley and Paul xx
