Very nice hotel. Family run in a beautiful valley with meadows and horses. Regional and very good food. Large parking space. Meat and sausage from your own butcher shop. Great breakfast with Ahler sausage. I'd love to see you again.

Holidays in the countryside

Unfortunately, we can't agree with the two previous reviews. For the restaurant we had booked for 10 people a week before. For 3x soups we had to wait an hour (!) the 2 servings of asparagus (2-finger thick, so the cheapest variety) were both raw/cross/wood. A serving of potatoes was warmed up again from the day before and uneditable. Only the pork medallions were fine. We stayed in another hotel whose hotelier had already booked us from this restaurant, but we had already booked. So with our rating we don't stand there for everyone.

Excessive waiting time, asparagus cross, meaning raw

I spent one night here in March 2018. The room was large, very clean and modern. The price was very moderate, 50,- €, including a very tasty and large breakfast buffet. The sausage was from the attached slaughterhouse and was extremely tasty. For dinner there were very tasty potatoes with sauce, plus a good and cheap wine. During the weeks I was in Bad Hersfeld, I kept getting sausage there and taking it home with me. Every time I was there, I talked very nicely with the hosts there (service was really great) and got a lot of tips. I would always stay over here (and order sausage here too).

Very good sauce and slices, rarely good fries and remoulade, and a friendly service.

Cheap and delicious

Every time I  am in Bad Hersfeld I go to the Waldgaststaette Glimmesmuehle to eat fresh rainbow trout. They keep live trout in several trout ponds. The hotel is located on the outskirts of town with the forests as the backdrop, therefore the name......They also have a butcher shop there and sell the wonderful German cervelat wurst. The business has been in the family for several generations.
Besides trout they also have other regional items on the menu, the ubiquitous schnitzel and other pork dishes, goulash etc, and also seasonal items such as white asparagus in the spring and chanterelles in the fall. Rainbow trout can be had in 3 cooking styles, such as 'blue', sauteed with almonds or smoked. It is accompanied by potatoes, butter and horseradish sauce.  A mixed salad was a wonderful concoction of cucumber salad, a type of slaw and shredded carrots, all in separate little mounds on top Boston lettuce leaves with a delicious dressing on top. For desert I can never resist their 'rote Gruetze", which is a type of berry compote......called 'kissel' in Slavic countries.
Service was very friendly and quick. The ambience is rustic with a middle class elderly clientele.

I go there for the rainbow trout

The rooms were newly renovated, large and tastefully furnished modern. Sevice very friendly and family friendly, the breakfast buffet is improving, neither rich nor wide choice. Location about 1.5 km from Bad Hersfeld was ok for us to cycle, but not feasible on foot.

Land hotel with charm

We made an unnecessary stop, just out of laziness. The hotel-restaurant is at the edge of the forest allowing very relaxing walks. Ponies, horses, ducks, and geese next to the premises, giving one a rural feeling. The huge terras gives shelter for the sun and the wind. The room was really excellent, so was the steak in the evening and the breakfast. The hotel also has their own home made sausages and meat products of their selected cattle. A must experience.
