It's a wonderful place, immersed in nature, in an atmosphere of serenity and relaxation, a spacious and cozy bungalow, a great restaurant with a lake view, a smiling and available staff, who can make you feel right at home.

That's great.

We spent a total of 2 nights at the guest house. After arriving by bus, we were picked up by boat at the pier. The hotel is really beautiful right by the lake and the property is very well maintained and inviting to stay. The breakfast and dinner were really delicious. We tried everything through the map and can recommend everything. All the tours booked and also the transport booked to Flores worked great. You should be aware that to get from A to B you always need a boat.

A great hotel to let the soul roam

The hotel is very rustic, very in tune with the wild environment combined with a marina for Veleros. The rooms are very comfortable and very beautifully decorated. They have wooden and bamboo roofs. To get to the hotel, you have to cruise a boat that the hotel sends once the car is parked or on arrival in Rio Dulce. There are also kayaks to stroll along the lake. The breakfast and the food, delicious!!! I had the pleasure of meeting Ashley, the owner of the hotel with whom we had long and interesting conversations, as well as the Hotel Administrator (of which I can't remember her name), a beautiful person too!

I have stayed at Tortugal several times years back. I brought friends there this visit who were new to the area. In Two days and three nights we had a great time at this wonderfully located place with so much to make a visit great. We swam off the dock, kayaked up a nearby canal, heated and cooled at Finca Paraiso water fall/hot springs, walked through Fronteras. We got picked up and returned by Casa Perico - for lunch and a look about. All this was orchestrated by Angela, the current manager, who i hope would be there forever. She "gets" Tortugal. I felt Daphne, the creator's, artistic presence in the structures, walkways, open air lounging spots we enjoyed. The food was fresh and good. Only difficulty was, to me, the oversized portions at dinner. I love Tortugal and Rio Dulce.

I had a great time at Tortugal! I was picked up from the dock at the same time as the groceries! My room was cosy and charming. The bed was comfy, the water was hot and I had a ‘side sea view’ of the river. 

The best things about the hotel were: the inimitable Angela - an infinite source of knowledge and dry humour; the amazing food; the salty sea dogs (who congregated at the bar at dusk to regale people with yachting stories over the Cuba libres) and two actual dogs (who seemed to have as much fun as the guests!) A great choice for a stay in Rio Dulce!

A great little hotel on the river

Lovely place, right on the Rio Dulce. Staff were very friendly and I love the chilled, relaxed vibe. Its a little isolated as you need to get there by a short boat trip, but its a nice feeling of isolation. I would go back again if I am in Guatemala. 

Lovely hotel

Great location, hearty rooms in small houses, very friendly people and right on the Rio Dulce!! You can also take a short walk in the mangrove forest that is right next door.

It's a great tortoise.

I don’t know where to start from.  Angela is AMAZING!! She sits down and gives you a breakdown of all the surroundings the minute you arrive. The hospitality in this hotel is beyond anyones expectations. The FOOD!!! OMG THE FOOD!!! Beyond amazing. I don’t know what the chef from the place cooks with but it has to be a god giving gift! Do yourself a favor, PLEASE COME AND VISIT THEM! I’m in Love and I will be here again 100% without a doubt! We love you Tortugal <3

A MUST STAY!

Angela, Lilian, Leo and Rudy set the bar extremely high with their hospitality! Here you’ll find comfort, cleanliness, delicious food, and you’ll be treated like family with the friendliest service there is to offer. Upon arrival, you’re greeted by their two friendly, furry friends, Pablo and Garcia. The rooms were comfortable, and eccentric in such a way that rendered us speechless.
 We loved Tortugal so much, we stopped by for lunch a few days after we had checked out. We will stay here again, and we will refer this resort to our friends and family!

We all were in awe at Tortugal

Great location, right on the river.   Wonderful staff, friendly, helpful.  You must meet Angela!!!
Rooms were lovely, very clean.  Kayaks and ferries were available for getting around.
The grounds were gorgeous and the food was great!
