We just stayed at Refugio de Sol for 2 nights.  I stayed in a suite with my 2 kids.  The photos on the website make the "suite" look a lot bigger than it really is. I know that's the case with a lot of hotel photos, but our room was not a suite at all-- and there was no privacy for the shower from the rest of the room.  Refugio de Sol bills itself as  B&B, and plays down the hostel part, but it definitely has a hostel vibe and a more hostel-oriented clientele, so if that's what you expect, it will be great for you.  
We also had a really hard time sleeping... I've traveled to 50 countries, mostly in Africa and Latin America, and the loud rooster near Refugio de Sol is the loudest I've ever heard.  Even with earplugs and a pillow over my head, I kept waking up.  The positives were that the room was clean and the staff were very nice and responsive.  Refugio de Sol should sell itself for what it is, a hostel with some private rooms.

Different than what was expected...

We stayed for 5 nights in the private room with balcony. First of all, it was really nice that they called us when we were still on our way since I didn´t had a cu that they close the reception at 10pm. We had an evening flight and then took a bus but we made it. The room was good in size but there we not that much space for your clothes etc. It was cleaned every day which was really nice. The breakfast was light but ok. The service level varied quite a lot.. It was also said that we can settle the stay via Paypal but I had to ask several times to get the link. Fee wifi was not working in our room at all. 
All and all, I think the price level in San Pancho hotels is qutie high so I think the price in this hostel is bit higher than we would normally pay.

There were great things and some less great things during our stay

Rent the first-floor apartment and the price was affordable for the rest of my days, the owner's attention was excellent, the place was impeccable and very comfortable, air conditioning and satellite TV, all the best.

The best of the best.

To begin with, we booked by booking where it says it is a hotel not a hostel, we paid over 700 pesos for the suite with balcony, on the fixed page q children under 6 years old are free and I take my daughter of 3, the goat that is in the entrance let me know q the page was wrong and that I would not charge for the girl, the air conditioning was in and towards a terrible noise q no let us sleep at 10 o'clock at night if we were flooded under the bed by the rain to bring down the boy q seems to me q is Argentine ya had a lot of hurry to go for his pregnant wife and offered me to change my room but it was no longer a big problem to move quickly and unpack, the solution was to give me a trap which lasts about half an hour to get out of the water already; finally I said that I would never be happy to stay under the bed after the rain to bring down the boy q I think it was a good idea to go for his wife and get back to the hotel if it was not a big problem but to move quickly and unpack, the solution was to give me a trap which

The worst is that we will return.

It is located at the entrance of San pancho, so you have to walk several blocks to get to the beach. It is a budget hotel that has shared and private rooms with continental breakfast included. We stayed in a private room and our look perfect to relax, take a bath, leave things and go explore. The sound easily passes between the rooms. The room air conditioning does not cool at all but as we were in the rainy season with the roof fan was enough. It is a good option if you do not want to spend a lot of time in the hotel.

Commodity is a commodity.

Really nice place, location is far from everything but what's far? When everything is 5 min walk!
Super clean, awesome staff and cool design, I totally recommend it!
They also have bikes, longboards you can use if you need to move around, kitchen and all common areas are clean and available for everyone.

Comfortable, clean and cool!

This was my first trip to San Pancho, we decided to stay here because of the price and why we offer you tour packages to the sea, a coral island or islands maristas... it is 100% recommended and comfortable the hotel! The breakfast you get is fruit, coffee and bread (it's very rich the bread), the staff is generally very kind, at the reception you'll meet Matías or Fernando, who are very kind and can help you resolve any doubts, I hope to return soon and if I return, of course you'd like to stay in Refugio de Sol!

The first of many!

It's definitely a good option although it doesn't have great luxuries and it's at the entrance to San Pancho on the spot you can borrow bicycles and skateboards and that's appreciated, besides I think that as the chavos that are Uruguayan ever arrived as tourists you know guide I needed a board and sent me to the right place so that a lady could borrow it, the rooms are fine if they have air conditioning for a getaway can work and if you go to some event where you're just going to go to sleep for a while, they have WIFI even though it doesn't get as well 👍

Our stay here was ok- stayed in the suite with mom and dad. Pretty over priced considering they just put an old matress on the floor for me, and charged the same amount as my parents. Also we paid extra for an AC room and it just spilled water onto the floor-they eventually fixed it but when talked to owner, didnt offer a discount. Room was noisy do to rooster and barking dogs at night... but we are in Mexico ;) front staff really nice and helpful. Clean and nice to have a kitchen.

Pretty good

This is a rare breed of hostel that combines superior accommodations with a laid back hostel vibe. Note that the Refugio de Sol and Hostel San Pancho are the same place - Refugio de Sol is private rooms on the 1st floor and Hostel San Pancho is dorm-style accommodation on the ground floor. Refugion de Sol is more like a boutique hostel. Both share a common area with kitchen and buddha-style chill out space, the highlight of which is a 5m long low table cut from one tree trunk.

The hostel is located on the main street, but in a quiet part of town, about 5 mins walk from the centre and 10 mins to the beach. Bikes/trikes are available for free if the walk is too strenuous :-).
The rooms are simple, but nicely appointed. There are basic and standard (same as basic but with air conditioning) rooms plus 2 larger suites with private balconies. The rooms on one side have light, the others just face onto a corridor.

The staff is fantastic and will cater to your every need! I really felt like part of the family. The village itself is incredibly laid back. It's so safe - you can leave your bike unlocked and no-one will take it. Make sure to check out the organic market on Tues- awesome food, art and music!
