This hotel would have to have one of theist views in the world. Situated right tat the end of a fjord with spectacular views from you balcony.  Rooms are reasonably spacious with all amenities. Beds are comfortable.  Bathroom floors are heated - nice force thing in the morning.  Food is really good with breakfast and dinner offering a huge selection from a buffet.  Wine is good but expensive, as it is everywhere in Norway.  Staff are great and helpful.
Town is small but walking along waterfront is a joy.  
Very romantic and cosy.

We had a week in this hotel with our older teenage children.  If you are picky you can find fault.  However, the staff are excellent and we have never been looked after better by our waiter, reception and cleaning staff.  The room is actually quite spacious and sitting on the balcony looking over the fjord was a highlight.  Our children loved the lounges with wifi and were very relaxed in this hotel.  The food was outstanding - I am quite fussy, but loved the wide choice and the quality.  we ate twice at another local hotel with higher ratings but preferred this hotel and its food.  it is quiet until the coach parties arrive, but they make a flying visit and hardly affect things.  Lots of lovely walks around Ulvik and with a couple of tours plenty to do for a week.  You get treated very well if you go with Inghams and the rep Neil was fantastic.  I would also recommend Bob and his Café Dross just down the road from the hotel.

As already mentioned its not the newest design. And i rather want it to stay as it is to keep the pricepoint.  Everything works. And the staff was polite and helpfull. And for this pricepoint its a great value

This is one of the most ideally located hotel in Norway. One can enjoy nature's beauty from room's balcony. Beautiful lake and hills offer pleasant look. Very peaceful and cool place in a small town. Rooms are quite comfortable. The only drawback is its lift which does not have proper protection when moving and cause injuries.

Wonderful Hotel

Under-rated - fantastic staff

Ulvik Hotel is centrally located with amazing view of the fjord, room and bathroom could have been better, needs a refurbishment, we got a room facing the rear so missed out the view from the room, though we just stayed overnight so not an issue.

There was no coffee maker in the room which was quite a disappointment. Also the vintage elevator was so peculiar that we will remember this for some time. The corridors were very dimly lighted, and there was no wi-fi in the rooms, only available in the small lobby which was crowded with people with there smart phones.

Breakfast was decent, would recommend this hotel for short stays.



Pleasant stay

A great location.  Stayed here for a week as part of a tour of the area.  Sadly preference was given to overnight groups of Japanese / Chinese package tours- this is where the money is and other guests get second best.  The Hotel is showing signs of age and needs a big overhaul (potentially very expensive).  The food on offer in the buffet showed a distinct lack of imagination (one night guests wouldn’t have known this - week long residents did).  There was a great display of flowers on all of the tables and a variety of plants / shrubs throughout the hotel.  They were all fake - as this Hotel.  This is a shame - this hotel has the potential to be a very high quality experience but only some serious investment will ever see this happening.  The one saving grace was the quality of the staff.  The owners really need to up their game in this Hotel.

Don't Do It

This hotel should be closed! It is not in the condition to house even animals! The roof in one part of the hotel is almost falling, broken windows, MOLD everywhere!! You can feel and smell the mold invasion the moment you walk in the hotel!!

MOLD everywhere!! This hotel is dangerous for your health! SHOULD be closed immediately!
