Botnen Camping

We spend a night glamping at Botnen Camping in the beginning of Sognefjorden. Great comfort. Amazing views all around. Very romantic too! 
You have a proper bed, heating and confortable chairs and table - indeed a glamourous way to camp. 
Very helpfull hosts. You can buy a simple meal and coffee - or you have the kitchen nearby.
But first and foremost go there for the views!

Very calm and beautiful, 10km away from the E39 and at a beautiful coast road, the Botnen Camping has everything from tents, caravans to cabins.
You can rent a boat, go fishing, swimming, hiking or just relax on hilly fields with a nice view over the Sognefjorden. Many small whales like porpoises travel through here.

Ruhig, szenisch, 10km weg von der E39 und entlang einer schönen Küstenstrasse liegt der Botnen Camping. Zeltplätze, Stellplätze für Camper/Wohnwagen und oder Hütten, hier ist für jeden was dabei, und dabei stehehn die Hütten nicht in Reih und Glied. Man kann hier angeln, Boot mieten, wandern, schwimmen oder relaxen, und es ziehen auch regelmäßig Schweinswale durch.

Newly renovated camp siste with excellent   shower, drying and food facilities. Great views. Friendly owners. The essentials for a cyclist on tour were more than covered. The offer small cabins and rooms accomodation in addition to caravan parking and tent sites. Better book cabins in advance during high season. 

Botnen camping is small and a simple camping but there is work in progress going on. The reception with small kiosk is rather new. If you like you can order a quick meal here (hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries). Below the kiosk there is a new sanitary building. 

The camping place is divided in north and south, where on the northern part the cabins are situated. 

We had cabin no. 4 with room for 5 people existing of a living room and kitchen and two bedrooms (with bunks). The kitchen window gives a great and open view over the Sognefjord. The cabin provides kitchenware, a fridge with small freezing space. Hot and cold water is provided. The sanitary building is on a short walking distance. It looks a bit outdated but it was very clean and the shower was perfect! Showering costs 10 NOK for 5 minutes.

The camping is perfectly situated along the Sognefjord. At evenings (we witnessed a spectacular sunset) it is nice to sit on the rocks to spot dolphins and the boats (including the big cruise ships). It is also a favorite spot for fishing, we noticed. The camping provides also a separate place to clean and prepare fish. It also has a small cooking hut where you can also do laundry.

Botnen is situated 10 km outside the village Brekke. In Brekke you will find a fuel station and two supermarkets (opposite of each other). Within the Coop supermarket you will find a small postoffice. 

The website of Botnen camping does not provide much information. For the future an update of the website is in my opinion necessary. 

Botnen provides WiFi, but you have to pay for it. 40 NOK for 24 hours and you can extend the period at all times. 

Also note that Brekke is mentioned as the wettest place of Norway. We had rain for sure but do not let it stop you for stopping by and spending a few nights at Botnen. The surroundings is great. A piece of unspoiled wilderness and within 1,5 hours drive from Bergen. We spent some a nice time here.

Family of 5 rented a room in the boat house down by the fjord. Camping site with rooms and a marina. With a nice panorama view of Sognefjorden, renting boats and enjoying the lovely sunset it was a pleasant stay. Also really humble hosts!

Small campground near the Sognefjord. Great view and quiet place. The small hytter is well equipped and has also cold and hot water. Old sanitary building. Shower 10 NOK for 5 minutes (only a few showers are at this campground). Free wifi, but very week signal on the camping. Washing machine is very very old. Friendly owner, but difficult to communicate with in English. Closest (small) shop is at 7.4km in Brekke.
