Chalet D´Ávila Guest House

I stayed here 2 nights after a TransAtlantic cruise and was very happy with everything! The desk staff were all extremely helpful and friendly, and they all spoke good English - which is appreciated if you don't speak Portuguese. I arrived mid-morning and since my room wasn't ready they stored my bags and offered to let me wait in one of the common areas with complimentary tea, coffee and cookies. The building has secure access, and upon check-in along with my room key I was given a building key for the front door. The common areas are all very charming. My room was basic (see photos) with a single bed and a shared bathroom - there were three bathrooms on my side of the 2nd floor and all were kept very clean. There was a bottle of drinking water on the table in the room, along with a heater and a fan. The room had a window that opened, and also had shutters and curtains to block out the light. There was a common sitting room, an enclosed patio and a kitchenette with dishware, sink, microwave, stove top and two refrigerators for guests all on my side of the 2nd floor. Early a.m. check-out was quick and access to the Red Line Metro Station (which runs directly to the airport) is literally right across the street. I highly recommend this hotel for the budget traveler and would gladly stay here again when visiting Lisbon!
