The hotel is very quiet and ideal for relaxing and taking a walk around the lagoon. Correct in its facilities and with a professional and friendly care of the staff. Its skies, for astronomical observation, are impressive. The night of 11 to 12 August enjoyed al ver, after a long time and with extraordinary quality, the Via Láctea, more than 20 fleeting stars (Perseidas) and, from the hand of AstroAfición and its telescopes, clusters, double stars, etc. Recommended to rest is to photograph the neurons of the current life and enjoy an alternative pastime: hiking, ornithological and astronomical observation, amenities of the area of the galaxy that we intend to visit.

A modern hotel, integrated into the surroundings overlooking the Gallocanta lagoon.The rooms are simple but you have everything.The restaurant is very right, they have a menu bar, at 12 euros per person, with various dishes to choose from.It is the best hotel in the area.

Cálida-Precio is excellent.

I think that almost all of my earlier hotel reviews have been 5 stars, and it's been a pleasure to report on owners who go the extra mile to make their guests comfortable and well-fed, but things went badly wrong here, I'm afraid.  I appreciate that no-one sets out to run a poor quality establishment, and the manager - the only hotel employee I met - was pleasant enough, but maybe through bad management, inexperienced staff, not enough skilled staff, lack of knowledge of the hotel business, not enough investment, or little culinary expertise, this hotel fell far short of any expected standards.  I was with a bird watching party, and my small ground floor room was initially pleasant enough, but there was no TV nor air conditioning, and with large south westerly facing windows I guess it would become unacceptably hot on summer afternoons and evenings.  The bath with shower over was positioned next to a large clear window with only a thin plastic curtain between them, and with no solid wall, the only place to hang onto if you needed support while showering was the rail holding the shower head.  The room appeared to be quite clean until I happened to look under the bed, which hadn't been touched for a long while, and the bin wasn't emptied during our stay.  There is little good to be said for the food either.  Breakfast was cornflakes, cold white toast, cheap jam and a few wrapped buns and cakes, with coffee from a Thermos.  We complained about there being no fruit, so on the following days, an apple appeared for each of our party.  For dinner, there was a very poor choice of badly prepared food, and as an example, a starter could have been a large plateful of boiled cauliflower and potatoes, followed by "quiche with meat in it" which turned out to be a sort of pork Wellington, with a small roll of loin of pork, covered with an inedible, greasy, soggy flaky pastry and sort of home-made deep fried oily crisps, with no veg at all.  While we were there, three German folk turned up for a pre-booked stay, only to find the hotel to be full, so administratively, the hotel seemed to be pretty poor as well.  This hotel is in a beautiful, quiet part of Spain with much of interest around, and not just for bird watchers.  It should be a thriving business, but as it is, it really doesn't deserve to succeed.  Sorry!

One of the worst hotels I've stayed in

Located in an excellent viewpoint at the lagoon of Gallocanta. With a design very integrated into nature, with magnificent views from the rooms and bathrooms at the lagoon. In a very quiet, quiet place, but next to the road that surrounds the lagoon and the village of Berrueco. Very sunny with orientation to the south and west. Comfortable rooms and great views and with a cozy dining bar and common lounges. The treatment of the right staff and with friendly attention, always available for what you need. Good breakfasts and dinners and very home-cooked meals.

A place in nature.

We fell into this rebound place and I have to say we were delighted after the previous conversion.There is a menu of 3 first and 3 second.Okay, no luxuries.The attention is very good.The place is nice, well decorated and the views are unbeatable to have a coffee on the terrace, well sheltered yes!

Good restaurant, personal friendly and excellent price quality relationship.The views from the restaurant make it an ideal place to enjoy the environment, as well as the children have space to play outdoors.

A privileged location.

Very peaceful as out of season for bird watching.
Family run and very comfortable.
Exelent home cooking, breakfast included everything you could wish for.
And very, very reasonable.

Over night stop for peace and tranquility

The hotel is well located in terms of interesting local towns (e.g. Daroca) and especially the landscape, nature and interesting wildlife of this unique area. However, it is hard to get away from the first impressions that the Hotel is too reliant on this aspect rather than on presenting itself as a quality hotel in the first instance. Never the less, it has much to offer in terms of cleanliness, friendliness and attention of the staff and a wonderfully appointed reading lounge and balcony. Our room was of a good standard if a little small and a tad dated in terms of decor.
Breakfast was especially good and the evening meal served after our arrival very good in quality and 'value for money' terms
Parking was not a problem but Internet service was very poor and ultimately frustrating.
Overall we would certainly recommend this hotel.

A Panoramic window on Laguna de Gallocanta

There is sparsity of hotels in the Gallocanta region. Among them Secaiza is the best, but that does not say much as far as hotels go. It has fantastic views of the Laguna and the setting is pastoral. Yet, as a hotel, and these reviews should reflect that, it needs much improvement. The rooms are small, there is no refrigerated minibar and the breakfast is the poorest we have had in a 3 month stay in hotels in Spain. Just plain Spartan. Should the fact that the cranes spectacle is spectacular improve the appreciation of the hotel? We do not feel that way, they are two different issues. Absence of TV  is carrying the "Eco" movement a little too far, particularly in the Fall when by 6 pm is nighttime and there is no good book selection. The available free Wi.Fi. helps this issue just partly. We cannot evaluate the restaurant because  it was booked for a bird watchers group and the hotel personnel did not have a recommendation.
To get a better hotel and much needed restaurant selection our advice to the traveler is to check in nearby Calamocha just 15  minutes away through a very good road.

the quality does not match the setting

This was our third overnight visit on our journeys home from the Costa Blanca. Obviously enjoyed by bird watchers with great views of the Laguna. 
We saw the last of the cranes heading south for the winter. Thousands had apparently left the previous day. 
We are always warmly greeted and pampered during our visits. The food and wine are produced locally and the service is so good that we feel like friends now. 
Definitely worth a visit. We hope to stay longer in the future.
