Very good
I loved this accommodation and would strongly recommend it for the budget traveller. Neighbourhood: The neighbourhood is delightful, it’s just a few streets back from Khaosan Road so there’s less tourists and more locals. Within a short distance you will find washing machines (40 Baht per load), dryers, a 7/11, water dispensers to refill your water bottle (1 Baht for 1500 mL) and heaps of inexpensive places to eat. The locals are so warm and welcoming. The distance to Khaosan Road is only 750m but keep in mind crossing the road is usually a time consuming activity in any south east Asian country. You wouldn’t want to be too close to Khaosan Road though, the noise would keep you awake. Some tour operators will pick up from this accommodation and others will only collect you from Khaosan Road – Buddy Lodge seems to be a popular pick up place. Room: Beds, aircon, wifi, cleanliness all fine. The rooms are serviced daily. In respect to the bathroom we stayed in 10 budget accommodations in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam and generally speaking none of them had a shower cubicle. The shower is just a hose that usually rests in a holder somewhere in the bathroom so every time someone has a shower the whole floor will get wet. This accommodation is the same so just be prepared for it. At least in this accommodation the shower is at the opposite end to the toilet, not right next to the toilet which is often the case. Breakfast: Breakfast is quite simple and pleasantly homely. The staff actually put the toast in the toaster for you, pop it on a plate, butter it and bring it to you at the little kitchen table with the jam, it’s actually quite adorable. You usually end up chatting with the other guests at the hotel and exchanging travel tips. I really enjoyed it but if you are expecting an all-you-can-eat continental breakfast just be aware it’s not quite like that. Getting there: It was 600 Baht by taxi to get to this accommodation from Suvarnabhumi airport. This was a fixed rate we negotiated with the driver. Returning to the airport was 150 Baht per person and they collected us promptly from the front door of the hotel. To book this I simply visited one of the many travel agencies on Khaosan Road. Staff: AMAZING – so kind and supportive. They treated us like family.
