W Home Bangkok 

This is my umpteenth time in Bangkok and I just cannot go past staying with the one and only, and truly fabulous Pook at W Home!!!!! This year she was capably assisted by Nancy who is the most kind and generous person of her time that you could ever wish to meet. Nothing ever changes at W Home, the warmth and affection that Pook and her staff show to their house guests is outstanding, hence her ratings. The position of the guesthouse to the main road is just perfect to walk, even at night, and the neighbourhood, while residential is completely safe and over friendly. While peering down the wrong street in the dark one evening walking home, a car stopped and said “No not here, you need the next one”. Hot and sweaty I was thankful, fully laden, of the directions. The rooms are small but extremely tastefully decorated and totally adequate for 2 people with 2 large suitcases. The entire guesthouse is so spotlessly clean. Toiletries are supplied with plush bath towels and the beds are the most comfortable you’ll ever sleep on. There’s bottled water in rooms which you can top up as needed. The communal bathroom is so clean, you’d think it was your private one. Nancy checked what time we required our breakfast daily and yet again the breakfasts were stunning and a stand out. A mezze of Thai delicacies, not one that wasn’t a taste sensation, they just kept coming and coming. The food presentation is always exceptional. We loved having a massage daily at Smile Curry Massage Centre ( 240 bt an hour…. thanks Nancy we did do 2 hrs a day!!) and Asiatique has got to be one of the best marketplaces right on the door step (with the bonus of the free ferry both ways from Saphan Taksim). We ate there every night including our last, when we splurged on a huge mud crab. The Chao Phraya river so close makes this location tops as a locality with the endless ferries up and down the river and to the Saphan Taksim stop, where we hopped the BTS Sky Train to get to every tourist attraction and any of the markets. The Chatuchak market at Mo Chit Sky Rail stop is a stand out (the largest market in Thailand covering 35 acres and with 8,000 market stalls!!!) If you only have time to do one market make this the one. Quite outstanding. Also go to the Banyan Tree Hotel to their 61st floor Vertigo Bar. (Sala Daeng BTS stop and take a taxi) The view over Bangkok is sublime and can’t be matched anywhere in the world. The Patpong Road red light district and market is walkable from here also, if that appeals. (Get directions from the hotel.) Pook I don’t know how you do it, but I do know you have the recipe for keeping your guests returning over and over. Thank you both for a wonderful stay once again, at the end of our 2 month European/ Russian holiday. You feel like a close friend now, and we both thank you hugely for yet another fabulous stay.
