Mango Lagoon Place 

Comfortable-enough beds, a refreshing pool, a charming cascade of flowered vines down the balconies, and a very useful location, this was perfect for our four day Bangkok stay. It’s not glossy or fancy, the elevator is…impatient, and some of the furnishings have seen some wear. But the staff were responsive, the room was impressively quiet (especially given the active street life up until at least 10pm), the onsite breakfast buffet was very convenient (and there were excellent choices nearby). There are only a few outlets, but they accommodate both Great Britain ans US-style plugs. Be aware that the bathroom is “wet room” style; it IS the shower. And the lounge chairs that line the street side of the pool were strangely over-sized, making them difficult to walk around. From the neighborhood, you can walk to a number of major attractions (including Khao San Road and, a bit further away, the Grand Palace), and it’s about a seven minute walk to a Chao Praya boat stop. We had no problem getting a Grab when we wanted one. We didn’t street hire any transport…but not for lack of offers! With advance reservation, we paid a very reasonable price. Although Bangkok is vast and there are surely other lovely places to sleep, we would have no problem returning for another stay.
