On October 17, 1969, my first wife and I had our wedding reception at the Rex. It was on the floor with the pool and there were over 200 people there, some staying some only stopping by to say hi. I had a number of photos of that event - alas, I lost them several years ago - but the service was excellent the food was very good both Thai and American. She was Thai - passed on in 2012 - and we were married by Thai traditional ceremony where her grandmother presided as well as a Catholic wedding at Holy Family there in Bangkok. In those days, that was about the only Catholic church in Bangkok. Fifty-two years ago .... Wonderful memories of a grand old hotel in the old Bangkok tradition.
